  4. I am just getting into cloth diapering. I have about 7 different cloth diapers I am trying out.I am using planet laundry soap because I can get it at the local Fred Meyer store. I am really excited about cloth diapering and am a bit overwhelmed with all the diaper choices, but your blog has been extremely helpful.

  12. Currently I use Sun detergent in powdered form. I spent many hours researching different detergents and then many more hours walking all the grocery stores in our area searching for cloth appropriate laundry detergent. It's worked pretty well for us.

  13. I use All & Clear by Purex but am wanting to try Charlie's Soap.

  16. We use Publix Free & Clear (a store-brand detergent) with really good results but I'd love to switch all our laundry to Charlie's.

  18. I use All Free and Clear right now. I've found, for my water and my dipes, it rinses the cleanest and doesn't irritate my son's bottom (two BIG pluses!).

    Thanks!

  30. I use Soap Nuts in a bag with a few drops of tea tree oil to wash our diapers. When it's sunny and I have the time, I hang them on the line to dry. Once a month I use RLR Laundry Treatment on the whole stash to prevent leaking in the AIOs.

My diapers come out smelling.. like nothing! It's wonderful! And since I started using tea tree oil, the Imp rarely gets rashes (we had a problem with thrust for a while). When I can line dry, the stains all but disappear.

  31. Right now I'm using Arm & Hammer sensitive. It works really well, but I can't find it anywhere (I can only find the more concentrated version and it has ingredients I don't want to use). I just bought Ecover laundry wash, and I'm already worried about using it because I've read some reports of it acting more like a soap and leaving buildup. Ugh!

  34. I use a basic generic Giant Eagle powder detergent. It works great. Very occasionally I add some bleach or Oxi-type cleaner. I've been eagerly waiting for this container to disappear so that I can buy myself some Charlies!

  35. I use Charlie's Soap and I love it!! I have tried a bunch of detergents and this is the only one that has left my diapers with a clean, fresh smell. Since using Charlie's I have not had any problems with rashes or urine smell.

  44. We use Arm & Hammer Essentials. it worked great at first, but I'm finding latley that the diapers aren't as fresh as I'd like them to be. I've been considering trying Charlie's Soap or Allen's to see if it makes a difference, so this is a GREAT giveaway!

Then, my grocery store stopped carrying it, and I couldn't find any other places in Omaha that did. So, we just switched to Country Save. I haven't tried it yet, but I really hope it works as well as Planet!!

  53. I'm still new to cloth diapering and trying out different ways to wash. I've heard everything for many different reason to wash in this or that. First I started washing in Purex natural essentails, which I used for all my laundry. Then I switched to Purex free and clear when I heard about washing with free and clear product. I choose Purex because I combine coupons and sales and get it really cheap.....However, after reading more message boards, some wash in regular detergents because enzymes break down bacteria better, so they really rinse the diapers well. So then I tried washing in Gain powder.I ultimately like washing in Purex Natural Essentails, but found any washing methods are succesful, and you just have to understand what you are doing to your dipes and who to effectively use the detergent you are using.

  54. OMGsh I so love your blog! I've been using the Enchantrix Liquid detergent for years and Love it!!!

  55. Wow! 240+ diaper loads for free!!! I really hope I win this one.

We currently use Country Save because it was the only highly recommended detergent that I could find locally. It has worked for our diapers...gets the job done.

  58. I make my own laundry detergent! I found the recipe online. I have instructions on my website.I just started this month and I love it. It has a grated laundry soap, Washing Soda, and Borax. I also use tea tree oil for fragrance. It is natural and works very well on cloth diapers.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I currently use All free and clear on my Bum Genius AIOs. We've only been using cloth for 2 months. I really don't know if the detergent is the best option. I'd love to try something new.

  65. I use Tide powder now. When we began, I tried Allen's Naturally, Gain, Purex, etc... I ended up having such stink issues (that I now attribute to my machine and putting too many diapers in at once).
Tide makes 'em smell great, look white, and does not cause any sort of negative reaction. I'm happy with it.

  68. I've been using Charlie's Soap since I began pre-washing our son's baby clothes right before he was born. I have extremely sensitive skin, so I switched all of our laundry to it, too. We love it. It cleans well and leaves our clothes soft without the need for softeners. Our diapers get clean with very little buildup (I've only had to strip once in over a year of heavy diaper use). Great detergent and much better for the environment.

I've also tried Country Save, and while it seems to work great on our clothes and doesn't make me itch, it didn't seem to get our diapers quite clean enough. I probably should have used more per load, but I just switched back to Charlie's Soap since it works so well.

  69. I currently use arm & hammer free and clear to wash diapers. Have also tried and enjoyed Country Save.

  70. We use Charlie's Soap and have ever since we switched to cloth diapers. It works and I love not having to use a fabric softener. I throw a little bit of vinegar in the final rinse for noncotton fleece fabrics to cut down on static cling but it isn't needed for most things.

  74. I currently use original Dawn to wash my diapers in. It works really well and my son's bum doesn't seem to be breaking out as often. I have tried several things, but I have wanted to try Charlie's!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I was really freaked seeing no comments yet, but then I see the moderation message.. whew, lol.

Wow.. I could really use this one.. DESPERATELY. Here's why:
I'm a bad bad bad cloth diaperer. Going into it, I didn't know all the do's and don'ts about detergent. So I have 2 kinds: Dreft (No no) and All Baby (No no no.) ... They DO work okay for me, but I only use a tiny bit (I hand-wash) for fear of ruining my diapers. But I have sworn off internet shopping for at least 2 months to give me a chance to dig myself out of the cloth-diaper filled hole my bank account is in ;) So I can't find a suitable detergent!
