  1. What would I do? I would donate them to my local shelter or crisis pregnancy center. I figure they've already been made so it would be dumb to waste them, but unless they are 7th Generation (which we have to use at church, no cloth) I won't be keeping them!

    ReplyDelete
  7. If I were given the disposables I would first offer them to my sister who is due in August. Otherwise I would ask my church where would be the best place to make a donation!

    ReplyDelete
  8. If I won 500 disposable diapers I would take them to our local pregnancy crisis center. I know that those women can use them and since they were free and already made there is no reason for them to go unused!

  10. give them away to those with less. i use cloth so i would have no need for them.

  11. I'd probably use them, but It would take a while as I only use Disposable at night and if gone for a LONG time from the house! Thanks

  14. Wow Im The first to leave a comment!!! Well I know that having a baby is very costly so i would be donating half of them to the food bank/womens shelter and half of them to our Health Unit to hand out to families that are in real need. I use cloth and i think even clothdiapers should be introduced to everyone. Even with the cost of the cloth diapers it still doesnt add up to what a family is going to spend on diapers in the long run. I have had 4 kids so i know how tight things can be when you need diapers and groceries etc.

  21. If someone left me 500 disposable diapers as a gift I would take them everywhere to try to exchange them. Hopefully I could get store credit and use the extra money I may have to buy a few cloth diapers and give to lower income people at my church. They helped me with my baby girl alot.

  22. Hi,

If I received 500 disposable diapers, I would keep 20 of them for traveling and emergencies, and I would give the other 480 to a local women's shelter.

Thanks for the contest (and for your tweets - I'm Mom_09). I also just subscribed to your feed!

    Best,

  25. If I received 500 disposable diapers on my doorstep, I would give some to friends that I haven't yet converted to cloth and donate the rest to a non-profit in my town called Infant Crisis Services.

    ReplyDelete

  29. I'd donate them to a local women's shelter or pregnancy center, fore sure.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If I were to receive 500 (WOW!) disposable dipes on my doorstep? This is sticky... realistically, we don't want anyone to use 'sposies, right? If there's no way to have them recycled or exchanged for cash to buy cloth diapers then I would take them to a local mother's support center, WIC or women & children's center and donate them.

  33. In all honesty, I'm sure I'd use a good bit of them. I'm only about to start the cloth journey (which winning this would certainly help with--hint hint!). That does seem like a lot, though, so I'd probably donate some to Jessie's Place, a local women & children shelter.

  35. If I found 500 disposable diapers at my doorway, I would bring them to the food pantry so if a family who was stopping in for food also needed diapers, they would have them.

Now if I found 500 cloth diapers, I would make a great stash for my house and my cousins. I would then put the remaining diapers together in sets of 25 or 30. On a bright Saturday morning, I would stand near the farmer's market and give out the sets to parents who might be interested in trying cloth diapers and being green.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm with Jenney, they have already been made, so I would give them to the pediatric hospital where I used to work. It is very hard to cloth diaper for these families while spending months living in a hospital setting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would definately donate them or give them to a family that I knew really needed them!

  46. What would I do? I'd give them to our local Ministerial Alliance for the young Mama's who come in all the time for diapers.. :) And I agree with Jenney. It would be bad to just waste them.. better someone who could use them to use them.

  48. I would donate them to the neighborhood center/crisis center in our neighborhood as I'm sure they could definitely use them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. If someone left me 500 diapers, I would take what I could use and donate the rest. I still use sposie's overnight and on outings b/c I mostly use prefolds and they don't hold up well for my dd overnight or for long periods of time..

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would use some of them as we only cloth diaper on the nights and weekends then donate the rest.

  54. I would donate them to a shelter or give them to a friend in need! I have been using cloth on my first child for 3 weeks now and I am HOOKED! I hate disposables now!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would set aside enough for a couple of long weekends. My in-laws don't like us using cloth dipes at their house. SAD! The rest I would re-gift for baby showers in my future.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think I'd keep a few kicking around for the grandparents who are unwilling to CD, but the rest would probably go to friends who don't CD or to a shelter. I'd rather CD my little one!

    ReplyDelete
  57. 500 diapers on my doorstep... well my husband and I are expecting our first, and though we have decided to go with cloth - I always wanted to - I would probably keep some to have on hand.
The rest I would give to friends who weren't using cloth, though many of my friends have now decided to go with cloth so I might have to give them to someone in need instead!

  71. If I got that many diapers, I would keep a few for traveling and emergencies, but the rest would be given to the slew of other family and friends that are having babies and not using cloth.

    ReplyDelete
  72. That's a really hard question!! If someone left them at my door I would probably donate them, although I wish everyone would and could use cloth I know that for some people they just can't or won't.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I would donate them to a homeless shelter.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have your button on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  75. If I got 500 disposables, I would start checking around to see who was in need of diapers. Probably check at church or with a local center for teen moms.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I would donate them to the local Pregnancy crisis center. They are always in need of diapers and formula.

    ReplyDelete
  77. If I was given 500 disposables I would keep a few to use while vacationing. We are going hiking this summer and won't have access to a washer and limited space in our packs.
The rest I would give to our church to help the womens shelter. I already give them the formula samples that arrive on my doorstep. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'd probably donate them to a shelter. Maybe save a few for emergencies and squeamish older relatives. 500, though? Too many for me!

    ReplyDelete
  79. As much as I love cloth diapers and feel they are the best diapering option (even preferable to gDiapers), I support moms and dads who use disposables. I would keep some of the disposables (10? 50?) for road trips and staying with family members who can't facilitate our diaper washing. I would keep several to give as baby shower presents and to my fifty or so baby-toting friends! This would let me pool my moolah to buy cloth diaper gifts for my dear and interested friends!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I would give them to my sister and sister-in-law, both expecting in September.

  82. Omg! I love this weeks topic, it made me laugh! My first thought would be I don't wish these on any baby and then I'd probably give them to my SIL or best friend....they have never seemed interested at all in trying cloth. =\

If my DH saw them he'd probably try and hide them for himself. He's always liked disposables over cloth for whatever reason!

  88. I would try and get other cloth mamas and companies that sell cloth diapers to chip in on getting them shipped to the nearest location that Knowaste LLC would take them and recycle them. The cost of shipping would be worth the saving of garbage landfill pile up. http://www.knowaste.com/us/default.php

  99. It is so funny how much 500 diapers sounds like until you sit down and figure out how fast those would go! With my twin boys we would go through anywhere from 16 to 20 per day so that would last us approximately....4 weeks (If we were using sposies full time). I have to say we still use disposables for trips, church etc. Also one of my sons has severe excema and we have to use a prescription medication that cannot be used with cloth....so I would probably keep them.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I have your button on the left bottom corner of my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I did receive about 200 sposies, and I donated them to the local food pantry, and I would do the same, bc those families have need and I won't use them.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If I had 500 diapers show up on my doorstep I would definitely donate them to our local service center. The center helps people in our town and they are always in need of diapers. There are times they are out and with 500 diapers they could help so many people.

    ReplyDelete
  103. If I received that many disposable diapers, I would be shocked! Then I would find a place or places to donate them to. My son is allergic to disposable diapers so they would do us no good. So giving them to people in need would be the best.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Well... I would probably donate them to someone who was really in need, or my church. I wouldn't keep them unless I need a couple for day care situations.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Two of my best friends are due in a few weeks. Despite my efforts to convince them to try cloth, they are going with 'sposies. So I'd pass them along to them...

  111. I would keep a small stash on hand for "just in case"... For instance I'd put some in a tote that I'm starting for evacutation situations, or if I have to strip all of my dipes I'd use sposies while stripping CDs.

The rest I'd give to a pregnant mama that I know who is in need. she's NOT open to CDing, so I've been giving her all the sposie coupons you get mailed to you during pregnancy.

  113. What would I do? I would donate them to the local Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as they have to use disposable and go through so many or to one of the many progams my city has for mothers who need help. There is nothing wrong with using disposable as I did use them. But why not make the earth cleaner by becoming a cloth fan.
