This post is part of Cloth Diapering Bloggers’ and Dirty Diaper Laundry’s Cloth Diaper Carnival VIII: Cloth Diaper Awareness. Please visit the other bloggers participating.
Here’s my BIG IDEA on how we can increase Cloth Diaper Awareness-
Let’s set a goal to meet a Guinness World Record for the number of Cloth Diapers Changed in a given period of time on a named day- “National Cloth Diapering Day”- tbd
Picture this; we pick a day to claim as “National Cloth Diapering Day” – leading up to that day, we network, post, blog, tweet, and get the word out. We pick three key cities and coordinate a big 3 hour play date in the park. During this time we have Cloth Diapering Stations set up for easy changing and documentation. We keep track of the number of diapers changed and we also can then calculate the number of disposables we saved from the landfills. Our goal will be to set the number of cloth diapers changed in 3 hours world record (pending Guinness World Record Approval). What do think? I bet we could make this a go, hey – we may even be able to get a Guinness World Record rep to join us at one of the events, which would really increase our press exposure.
Let’s invite non cloth diapering moms to attend the event and try cloth diapering and learn from the experts – other moms, dads and caretakers. We can get our awesome cloth diaper manufacturers to send their reps out to help answer questions.
Exceeding the record will be fun next year- but first we have to Set a Record, right?
If you are a manufacturer or a someone that would like to help coordinate this event with DiaperShops.com please email sarah@diapershops.com
(Please note: DiaperShops.com has already started the application for this event. We welcome all your ideas be sent to sarah@diapershops.com)

This would be awesome!!! :) I just hope the "major city" is close enough for me to make the trip! :)
I love this idea!! I'm in Holland, MI so Chicago would just be a few hour drive for me! Chicago would be a great city to pick!!!
I like this idea, but I am fairly certain the major city will not be close to us, so we won't be able to officially participate.
Even if I don't live close enough to one of the cities, I'm willing to get my cd mommies in our town for a playdate at the park! :)
What a great idea! I'm all for helping out :)
What a great idea! Portland, OR might be a place to consider...there are already a lot of cloth diapering mamas in the area that I'm sure would LOVE to be involved!
Would love for you to come to NC. Raleigh/Cary would be even better! My son would be there with his cloth on!!!
LOVE THIS! You know @TheEcoChic and @EcoCHicParties would be happy to help organize anything too! XO!
That is an awesome idea! I doubt that a major city would be by me in little old orem, ut but I what a great way to raise awareness!
I love that idea. I would definitely participate if this happened in Portland, and I know a lot of other Mamas who would, too!
What fun that would be!!!! MIAMI would be great!! A drive for me but there is alot of natural mamas there!

I love this idea! I'm just a couple of hours from NYC! Central Park would be a spectacular place for this!
Sounds great! I vote for Chicago
Great ideas! Wish we lived closer, but a few states away, lol. I hope you get lots of participation to help spread the word.
