ReplyDeleteI would probably just travel with my Flip system as those are the only diapers we own. The stay-dry inserts and prefolds and covers are easy enough to wash in the sink or tub if worse comes to worse and hang to dry. The only problem with disposable inserts is you need to have enough to last the entire trip and that would just take up too much room.

ReplyDeleteI would definitely do a hybrid system with disposable inserts. You never know what the laundry facilities are going to be like, so handwashing is going to be easiest, and I'd much rather handwash covers than inserts.
ReplyDeleteOoh, for travel I would definitely try a hybrid system. I here the flip takes up less space.

The choice would depend on where I'm travelling to: if it were a place with less (or no) access to modern conveniences such as a washer and dryer, I would choose prefolds and wool for the easy to wash routine. Otherwise, I'd probably go with something one-size and more compact like GroVia - to save space!
ReplyDeleteProbably Flip!

ReplyDeleteI would still cloth diaper, probably with AI2's. In a pinch, you can wash the inserts in the sink, but I'd look for a rental home with laundry. My email is erin [at] gringuitica [dot] com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSigned up for the Kelly's closet newsletter!!!
ReplyDeleteHm, I think I'd use a combination of pockets-simply because they hold more and either Flip with cloth inserts or the diposable inserts. I guess it would have to depend on whether or not I could wash my diapers. I really like having absorbancy, but the bulk is sometimes a hinderance!
ReplyDeleteI'd likely use my regular stash and just find a laundromat : )

ReplyDeletei usually use disposbales when travelling anywhere i don't have access to laundry facilities, but i use the most gentle ones i can find like Seventh Generation.
ReplyDeleteIf the place we were staying at had a near by laundry mat then no problem cloth all the way, other wise unfortunately I would go with disposables.

ReplyDeleteI think I would go with prefolds or flats and wool! Easy to wash, you could even hand wash if you didn't have laundry facilities!

If I was traveling overseas, I'd use FLIP! We used Flip for our week long vacation and it worked great! We had access to washer/dryer at the hotel for our inserts, I hand washed the covers in the sink and hung to dry and we used the disposable inserts when we were out and about!

If traveling overseas, I would use a diaper with a disposable option, such as Flips or gdiapers. Depending on where yo are going, you might not know how clean your cloths are going to get, so to have that option would be useful.

ReplyDeleteOMG this is perfect for me! We cloth diaper and are leaving for England on the 23rd for a little over 2 weeks! I have been looking at the flip but also have some gro baby covers and the disposable biodegradable soaker inserts! I would love to try a flip! I also love that you can then use with washable inserts too so it is the perfect combo of a travel diaper and regular use diaper!
ReplyDeletesunni08 at gmail dot com
I would use some sort of hybrid/AI2 system if I were travelling overseas. They take up way less room than other styles, and there is less laundry to do since more of the covers/shells can get re-used.

ReplyDeleteI would definitely take our Flips with disposable liners - I love the portability of them & having less laundry is a plus.
ReplyDeleteIf I were traveling overseas I think I would resort back to my faithful prefolds and covers. They are by far my most absorbant diaper and my covers have never failed me. Prefolds would be very easy to hand wash along with the covers when necessary. And you could pack plenty (without taking up too much room) to get through many days without washing if necessary.

ReplyDeleteGosh, good question... Depending on where we went, I'd probably have to go with a hybrid system because it would probably be more difficult to have continual access to a washing machine. Luggage space also often becomes an issue, so I might want something that didn't have much bulk. If I was totally convinced, however, that I would have my own laundry access (like that at a vacation rental), then I would have no problem lugging an extra bag full of our pocket diapers.

ReplyDeleteIf traveling, I would still use my flips that I use all the time. It saves laundry since I can reuse the covers, so I think it would be easy to use on the road.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the flip diapers yet, but it sounds like flips with disposable inserts would be the way to go for traveling overseas!

I would take my FLIPs with disposable inserts. The covers are so easy to wash, we could wash them in the sink if need be. And they hang dry super fast. They are thin and lightweight, so I could bring a bunch without using up my suitcase room. And the inserts are less bulky than disposables, so it would be easy to travel with a pack or two (depending how long the trip was). LOVE my FLIPs!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd use a combination of regular fluff and "hybrid" if we were traveling overseas.

ReplyDeleteIf I were traveling overseas I'd like to give the disposable inserts for my Flips a try if staying at a hotel but if I had access to a washer I would just use my regular combo of Flips, BGs and Fuzzi Bunz!

I would probably take the Flips, because they are trim, have less to wash, and you can use the disposable inserts in a pinch. I have been using Flips for a while now, and just ordered my first pack of disposable inserts to try out. If I like them, I will order more to take with me on my long business trips!
ReplyDeleteIf I was traveling overseas I would probably use the bumgenius flip diaper system. I used a couple of these when visiting family for a week and they work well when you don't have alot of extra space to be taking a stack of diapers. You can just take a couple covers and a stack of inserts with you. I haven't tried the disposable inserts, but those could be handy during the flight.
ReplyDeleteI would go for a wipe up cover and disposable insert. Of course, if I knew I had access to laundry I would use prefolds, but I would need room in the suitcase for clothes!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan on facebook!

I am fairly new to cloth diapering. I think a hybrid system would work well for international travel because of the need for less laundry and ability to toss dirty inserts (less dirty mess to carry around).

ReplyDeleteHonestly, if traveling overseas, I would probably do disposables. EEKAHD!! Did she just say disposables??? Yes! For a trip of that magnitude, with the plane, and the traveling, not knowing what shops over there might have, and laundering, etc. it would just be easier to do the disposable route. I love my cloth, but for big trips like this...it would be more work than good. How can we fix this??
