Irresistible Cloth

When I began cloth diapering no one I was acquainted with cloth diapered. Needless to say, everyone thought I was crazy. They were certain I wouldn’t stick with it; that was until they saw my stash! I had so many wonderful brands of fitted and pocket diapers to try out. These were not the cloth diapers they were thinking of (prefolds, pins and rubber pants) when I shared my decision on cloth diapering… these were cute and convenient.

Now, while everyone else is complaining about going to the store and buying yet another pack of diapers, I say, “I’m so glad I don’t have to go there.” However, after seeing my stash grow and all the new diapers added to the mix, my friends started asking questions: How much work is it? How much extra laundry do you have to do?

I told them it’s not really hard at all! I wash diapers every 2-3 days and went on to tell them how I wash the diapers (probably sharing way too much information but I’m always thrilled to get an opportunity to talk diapers). Really, storing cloth diapers really isn’t much different or worse than disposables – you simple throw the diaper in a diaper pail versus a trashcan… Simply dump any solid poo into the toilet and then throw the diaper in the pail, voila!

Having some hands-on exposure to my diapers also gives them the opportunity to feel and play with the cloth and see how much fun diaper changes can be. Not forgetting to mention that cloth diapered children typically potty train sooner than kids who wear disposables!

I’ve helped a few friends build their stash; showing them the ropes – from ordering diapers and finding the best deals to what not to do with the diapers… I’ve even lent my diapers out so they can give them a try; this has been the most successful way to convert others to cloth – having them see their little ones with a cute little fluffy bum! Irresistible!

I feel the same way! I am so glad I am not at the store buying boxes and boxes of disposables. I see people in the store buying them, and I want to try and convert them! (Of course, I don't)
I am always happy to talk about the fluff though!

I love sharing what I know, too. I hope my friend will choose cloth, even though her husband is not so sure about it.

I've just started cloth diapering and first saw them on a baby at my breastfeeding support group. I thought "I couldn't do that", but after cleaning up yet another huge disposable blow-out, I decided to ask that mom about them. She loves cloth diapering and got me excited, too. Cloth diapering is infectious!

I'm in the same boat you were. Not many people around me cloth diaper. Seeing my son's vibrantly colored diaper sticking out the top of his pants draws attention and the questions begin. I've "converted" a few people already. It's great!

I've converted a few people too. I think seeing the diapers in action speaks a thousand words.

playing with a friends cloth diapers is how I finally made the leap... looking online can be overwhelming, so she offered that I come over and see what she has, and that same afternoon I went home and began ordering.
I'm always happy to let people see my cloth diapers and help out any way I can

yeah instead of late night trips to the store to buy disposables, we do last minute laundry loads!

That is such a cute diaper. I have been trying to stay away from the super fun cute stuff because you put covers and cloths over them. I was surprised that it was my husband who was all about the fun stuff. We have a baseball diaper that is his favorite.

Your story and mine sounds the same. I've turned on so many to cloth! And I am not sure that I ever would have taken the "plunge" if it weren't for a dear friend who mailed me some of her various dipes to hold and feel. THEN, my hubby and I were SOLD! People ALWAYS think it sounds gross to wash them. I just really don't get how they think a dirty cloth diaper is more disgusting than a dirty disposable. Thanks for sharing!!

To Kira, that's a star bunz in blue puppy! The come in MANY animal "patterns" & diaper styles. (covers only, pockets, aio's etc) this is one of my FAVE out & about diapers! I also LOVE minky fabrics!

at home I diaper much more simply but it's nice to have "easy stuff" for days when I don't feel so great & someone ELSE may have to take over! I always show of my "chicest" diapers in public because let's face it if it doesn't look great or even remotely looks like grandma's dipes no one will think kindly of you! (g-ma's dipes ARE super easy now that we have snaps & velcor fyi)

If only more people would just give it a try! They're not that hard to keep up with and do so much good. I can't imagine not using cloth.

Starbunz have to be the cutest diapers/covers! I love the idea of letting my friends test drive diapering! I've managed to convince at least one co-worker to cloth diaper and brought her a bunch of my favorites to look at.

Wow, lending them out! Could I part with part of my stash, even for a week? I dunno... :)

It really is fun to talk to a new mom about how much fun cloth diapering is and how easy!! I do get a lot of "your crazy" but some friends are really interested. For no other cause really than for other people to experience how much nicer it really is!

I always think it's funny when people think it's "weird" that I cloth diaper...I really enjoy it and feel like I'm saving lots of money now that number 3 is wearing the same diapers.

I LOVE that puppy diaper!! So stinkin' adorable.

I find cloth diapering fun and easy. I'm a freak, and LOVE doing my diaper laundry! I'm going to be sad when it's too cold to line dry. I love seeing the diapers flapping in the breeze!
