Meet March's Spotlight MOM

Name: Jody B.

Hometown: Urbana, IL

Mom to: Kennedy (9 months)

Occupation: Wife and Mother

Fav Cloth Diapers: It depends. When Kennedy was smaller, I preferred Happy Heinys. Now that she's bigger, it's bumGenius.

What is the one cloth diapering tip you would tell a new mom?
If you have extra time during the day, go ahead and assemble the diapers (put inserts in diapers). It saves time when you are in a hurry and during the middle of the night.

What are your TOP 5 favorite websites?
theclothdiaperwhisperer.com, safemama.com, passionatehomemaking.com, amazon.com, and allrecipes.com

What is your parenting style?
At this stage, we are primarily focused on her health, so we are careful about reading the labels on food, drinks, and healthcare products. We are taking a more natural route, trying to avoid ingredients that aren't helpful. I love junk food, so this has been a lifestyle change for me also. As she grows, we will have more to worry about, but for now that is our main concern.

What is the cutest thing your baby does?
She snorts at us and it has become a game. She'll snort and then we'll snort back at her. She giggles and just loves it!

How involved is Dad in cloth diapering?
Very involved! He and I both made the decision to use cloth diapers. I appreciate his concern for our baby's skin and comfort, as well as for the environment.

What went into your family history book as the funniest cloth diapering moment?
The fact that she lives in stretch pants! We love little jeans and try to squeeze her big diaper bottom into them, but they are always too tight.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
Having a special little person to love and nurture! I feel so blessed that I am able to stay at home with her and teach her about world and our beliefs. It is so exciting to think of all the things we adults take for granted, that a baby has yet to experience. I look forward to taking her to see the ocean or mountains or to a museum.

What's your "go-to" dinner on a busy night?
Veggie pizza is one of my favorites!

As a mom who is going to be new to cloth diapering, I appreciate her cloth diapering tip! I'll remember that (although with 4 kids there may not be extra time in my day! LOL!).
