Meet July's Spotlight MOM: Rebecca R.

Name: Rebecca

Hometown: Virginia

Mom to: 1 year old fraternal twin boys: Gerrit Georg and Carter Stuart

Occupation: Stay-at-home mom, organic farmer

Fav Cloth Diapers: Soft Bums with bamboo inserts are my new favorite, but my husband prefers the BumGenius AIO. (I am in the process of finding the perfect natural fiber AI2 diaper.) When the boys were first born, we used kissaluvs contours with Thirsties covers. What is one cloth diapering tip you wish you had gotten at the very start?
Don’t worry about stains!

What is the one cloth diapering tip you would tell a new mom?
That fitted diapers with covers become very difficult to use when your babies start fighting their diaper changes at about 8 months. It is much easier to have an AIO or AI2 diaper that you can whip on and off really fast (especially when you have twins). Dads also gravitate towards Velcro because it is easier. If you want your husband involved in changes, it is best to go with Velcro.

How involved is dad in cloth diapering?
Very. With twins he has to be. He quickly saw how many disposable diapers we would otherwise be throwing away.

What is your parenting style?
I am very laid back, but firm. I don’t believe in being overprotective. Children need the freedom to explore their world and realize their potential. But, they also need someone to set boundaries and not waver on them in order to make them feel safe. I believe in endless amounts of hugs and kisses.

What is the cutest thing your babies do?
When they are upset in their crib, I find them snuggling into each other for comfort.

If you had a free day to yourself, what would you spend it doing?
I would spend the morning in the garden. Then I would come inside and spend the rest of the day cooking something fabulous that takes a lot of time to make.

What are your favorite websites?
Etsy, Spoonflower, Facebook, Diaper Swappers

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
Knowing that you have two babies that love you unconditionally, and who rely on you to become the best that they can be. Oh, and getting double the snuggles!

What’s for dinner tonight?
Lasagna made with egg roll wrappers. So easy, and yet tastes like it was made with fresh pasta!

Twins would be so fun but busy. I always like to know what diapers people like bc that is the best recommendation.

Looks like the article linked to every product except SoftBums.com (which are also my favorite diapers!)

I enjoyed this "spotlight". My daughter is 7.5 months & is so the resister/squirmy fighter at diaper changes now! I can totally relate to the AIO/AI2 being the easier option now - prefold & snappi are a challenge & the last I grab from my stash now.
