Product Focus: Thirsties Diapering Products

A short description of the different Thirsties products, when it was invented, and the types of materials it is made of.

Thirsties Diaper Covers - Launched Spring of 2006

Thirsties Diaper Covers are the top-rated wrap on the market! The design of this cover was inspired by our own personal needs for a full coverage, properly-sized, gusseted cover in array of fun and exciting colors. Made from a single layer of waterproot laminated fabric, these covers are soft and pliable and can be wiped clean between uses which allows for fewer covers in rotation.

Thirsties Fab Fitted Diapers - Launched Summer of 2007

Thirsties Fab Fitted cloth diaper paired with a Thirsties Diaper Cover makes for an incredible marriage you can truly count on. Using a duet system including a fitted diaper and cover combo provides an extra barrier of elastic to help prevent leaks. This 2-step method offers the best protection and the velcro closures make changes a snap for even Dad to perform.

Thirsties Pocket All-In-One - Launched Winter of 2008

Our beloved 1-step diaper with built-in absorbency and waterproof outer shell. Includes a pocket opening to stuff a doubler or insert when you need extra absorbency. Inner layer of stay-dry microfleece keeps baby feeling dry and leg gussets are an excellent protection from blowouts. This is the preferred cloth system of dad's and babysitters and of families on the go.

About the Inventor...

Erin Kimmett, owner and designer of Thirsties, became infatuated with the sewing machine and all its wonders beginning at a very young age. Her grandmother, Pearl McBride, was a truly gifted craftswoman and eventually become a local celebrity in her artful expressions. Pearl's father passed away when she was just a baby leaving she and her mother to fend for themselves in a poverty-stricken tenement of New York City. Pearl was taught to sew professionally alongside learning her ABCs and tying her shoes. Though Pearl was only a child, she and her mother worked tirelessly together as sewers for a large clothing manufacturing company to try and make ends meet. Despite the fact that she was forced to sew in lieu of a formal education in order to keep bread on the table for herself, Pearl was enamored with the needle and thread and all the limitless possibilities of creativity it provided. As an adult, she continued to sew for both hobby and profession. Never was she seen without a needle and thread in her hand. In due time, she graciously passed along her gift and her unquenchable thirst for creativity and sewing to her granddaughter, Erin Kimmett.

Pearl has since passed, but her love for sewing is still expressed in Thirsties cloth diapers today. As a new cloth diapering mom herself, Erin Kimmett, couldn’t find a diaper cover that quite suited the needs of her baby, and therefore set out to create her own design of waterproof wraps. The first covers were patterned, cut, and sewn on her dining room table and went through several tweaks over the course of 18 months before they were finally released! It was a painstaking process, but all the hard work and innovation paid off and resulted in the best selling diaper cover on the market today.

I LOVE the Thirsties diaper covers. They do and amazing job at preventing leaks and hold in the most explosive of baby bowel movements - not to mention they are easy to clean and quick drying.

Thanks to Erin for making such great covers with an excellent color variety for a GREAT price (even better prices through Kelly's Closet)!

I absolutely *love* Thirsties diaper covers. The new version of the covers look even better! I'm excited to try them.

I really like the Thirsties AIO diapers as well. They are great for getting hubby to change the diaper and for going out of the house.

It's really cool to see the story behind them.
