5 products The Cloth Diaper Whisperer Loves

Photobucket
1) SuperDo Hemp Terry Insert- Every household has to have at least 2 of these for nighttime diapering. Honestly, I don't think I could cloth diaper at night without this product. I put Riley down around 7 ish in the evening and stuff a pocket diaper with 1-SuperDo Hemp Terry Insert and 1-bumGenius one size insert and he can go 12+hours without being changed. This insert combination is by far the best I have tried. Believe me I have tried all sorts of scenarios.

Photobucket2) Thirsties Fab Wipes- These are used for so many things than just cloth wipes. Washcloths, spit up cleaners, you name it. They are super soft and clean so well. I also use other wipes but these are by far the softest!

Photobucket3) Knickernappies Doorknob Diaper Pail- This is a must if you are really confined with storage/space. My laundry area is in my pantry which is super, super tiny. My house is huge but my laundry area is cramped so space is a premium. I use the diaper pail liner actually around a hook instead of a doorknob (see picture)

4) bumGenius diapers- Oh...how I love thee. All three versions! bumGenius one size pocket diapers for nighttime, bumGenius one size organic all in one and bumGenius sized all in one for daytime. It is the brand my daughter and I grab first. Hubby, when he will change a diaper ( i need to work on this!!) will grab a bumGenius aio. He gets SO confused with any snap closing diaper. (see picture of half my stash of BG-the rest is in the Knickernappies Diaper Pail- waiting to be washed)

Photobucket5) bumGenius bottom cleaner- We just started using this and I absolutely LOVE it. It just freshen's Riley's bottom especially after he has a bowel movement. It has a citrus smell (which I love) and make cleaning up much nicer.

I'll have to try the SuperDo Hemp Terry Insert...I need to pick up a few more hemp inserts soon, so I might give this one a try. Love your colorful stash of BG's...I so wish I had a few of the new bold colors...but I don't "need" them.

Thank you for sharing your favorites w/ us. I was actually wondering what your diaper preference was. Now I know. LOL

Does the spray have actual citrus in it? (DD is allergic to citrus & carrots).

I enjoy reading what Kelly (and others) LOVE... The "essentials" of what makes cloth diapering works for us!

Hi Amanda,
The spray is wonderful however the version they have out now is called clementine and is citrus based. Citrus ingredients:
Essential oils of grapefruit,lemon,mandarine,tangerine

The last version they had was vanilla scented.

I personally am a big BG fan myself, but I've never tried the cleaner. Baby bits have served me well so far & last forever!

Thanks again for an awesome post! I had a love affair with the SuperDo's for about 4 months and now I'm having leakage every night. I was using them with the BG infant insert, so I switched to the one-size microterry, thinking that now that baby is almost 6 months, she needs more coverage. But I'm still having the same issue. I'm not having leakage with any other diapers. I'm wondering if the SuperDo needs some special attention of which I'm not aware? I should mention that at night I use the Northern Essence Diaper Rash Salve, which I believe is safe to use on the dipes, so shouldn't be causing any buildup. I was using a stay-dry liner (just to be safe) but I thought that might have had something to do with the leaking, so I stopped. No difference! Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I've seen a bunch of pictures now with the diaper pail in another room than a bathroom. Do you simply put the soiled diapers and wipes directly in the pail? I try to rinse mine first (makes quite a mess, especially when trying to do that while keeping the crawling baby and the inquisitive toddler at bay with my foot), so I put the pail in the bathroom, next to the sink. Also, do you rinse poopy cloth wipes?

thank you for the post, I was looking for better nighttime inserts.

I use something similar to the hemp dos inserts at night and they are great.

Thank you Kelly. Good to know...that's allot of citrus.

When you say you don't have to change the diaper at night, do you mean there are no leaks or the diaper still feels dry against baby's skin? My DD wakes up if she's even the littlest bit wet. We use bg pockets. I've just been keeping a diaper by the bed and change her when she starts squirming.

I felt some of the Thirsties wipes just today and was very tempted. They do feel really nice. Also got some BG all in ones for the baby on the way, can't wait to give them a try!

To answer some of your questions (sorry ladies - I've been a bit behind on the blog stuff)...

Cecile: I always rinse soiled diapers and wipes before putting them in the pail... Since my pail is not in the bathroom - I generally squeeze the excess water out of the wipes, insert, and the diaper too. Then I plop the rinsed wipes and insert on top of the pocket (or diaper cover) and carry it back to the pail... Since the pocket diaper or diaper cover is waterproof I don't have to worry about leaks. If the diaper pail in the bathroom works for you - don't worry about changing your routine... there are a LOT of people who keep the pail (or a hanging wet bag) in the bathroom.

Kira: Already handled your question directly...

Jenny: Yes, Kelly's little one is able to go all night with no leaks. In my experience with the different fabrics - the suedecloth lining it seems to feel drier than microfleece. However, some babies are VERY sensitive to wetness no matter how little pee and irregardless of what cloth/fabric is used. I would venture to say your little one is super sensitive - so even with a Super-Do she will still notice any wetness.

Hope this helps!

I just started using cloth wipes--why we waited after using cloth diapers, I'm not sure! The Bum Genius spray looks really interesting. I'll have to look more into it--right now we have plenty of homemade wipe solution but this will be next on the list!
