Cute ooga print!

Funny diaper story for ya. My son was learning how to put things away, and loves to help put away cloth diapers in the changing table. One day I went to put a clean Softbums diaper on him, and pulled out 2 socks, and the bread he had for snack in diaper basket! He got so carried away with "putting things away" he started putting just random things in the changing table baskets! Soo cute! So I just brushed off a few crumbs from the clean diaper and put it on him, lol.

Another funny story is how my mom was visiting and decided to change Olivia. My mom (who used flats/prefolds & covers on all her kids) was in Olivia's room a long time. I went to check on her and she says she's just figuring out the diaper. I use mainly BG3.0's which seem so easy to me and she didn't want any help. Somehow, she put the diaper on w/o velcroeing it correctly. A little while later, the diaper was loose and flopping around inside her pants. Nothing leaked or anything but it was definitely funny!

Another CD story that I will never forget...When I was potty training my oldest son, I walked into the bathroom to find him sitting on his little potty chair with his orange Fuzzi Bunz on his head. I guess he figured that since I wasn't putting them on his bum, he should wear one on his head like a hat.

At the doctors office we have to strip the baby down to diaper for weighing. I took all my daughters clothes off and was heading towards the scale when the nurse stopped me telling me I had to take that pink thingy off her. I spent a couple minutes going round and round with her before she finally understood that the pink thingy was indeed my daughters diaper.

SarahMcD said...

One of the things I will never forget about diapering baby boys is their "range" when peeing. My youngest managed to pee right down the front of my shirt.

KayStarGoesGREEN said...

I just spent 20 minutes cracking up about some of these stories! I am definitely not buying anymore diapers that don't SNAP. I don't think I could handle a poop paint job.

I don't really have any FUNNY stories...but I do have one that makes me smile.

Most people I talk to about using cloth are appalled and disgusted-I've even been ranted at and informed that disposable diapers are much BETTER for the environment and yada yada yada...But anyways..

I've been using cloth diapers for six months now on my second baby. I was over at my MIL's the other day and she was watching me change his diaper (which is a one size diaper) and she asked me how long I was going to use cloth diapers for.

Huh? I was confused. I asked her why she thought I would quit using them if I love them so much?

She proceeded to question me as to how big cloth diapers could go. Whaaat?!

Seriously? I told her that the diaper I was holding could be worn by my 3 year old and she was shocked. I also told her that there is such a thing as special needs diapers for older and larger kids and adults, too! (She was a tad disturbed by this, actually)

oh, and I will be telling all my friends about:

i have only been cloth diapering for a few weeks now, so i don't have many humorous stories! however, i am trying to get my daughter used to the potty so yesterday when i sensed she was ready to poo, i picked her up and we ran to the bathroom...the snaps almost did me in as i was trying to get the diaper off in time to catch the poo in the toilet...i ended up flinging the diaper down onto the ground and putting my daughter on the toilet and then i realized that she had already gone in the diaper and that the poo was now on the floor as i had so quickly flung it off! not that funny, i know, but it's the only story i have!

Thought of another funny CD moment:

My dh was left alone to change the baby one evening. I come home to the baby walking around the living room with a gigantic bubble butt. I asked dh what he put on him and he says "A drybees fleece night time diaper with the stuffers that was laying on top of it." The funny part? There was 6 inserts laying with the stack of drybees and a prefold. Needless to say our son was leak free for a while. I still pick on DH about it too.

this isn't nec related to cloth but he was wearing/being changed into cloth lol we all know to watch out when changing a boy so its the middle of the night & I start changing him when he starts peeing alllllll over his own face I grabbed a cloth wipe & cleaned him up while hes screaming & im laughing saying don't go peepees while im changing you

Alright heres our funny story!
I love cloth diapering and am thrilled to be able to share that with anyone. So one day my friend was over and I was raving about my cloth diapers and about how they have NEVER leaked. We don't have issue with diaper rash ect. So I change my sons diaper and put on a prefold to show how easy it really is. Lo and behold I completely forget to put on a cover. So she was holding my little one and talking and he soaks her shirt. I couldn't believe it! So much for winning her over huh?

Darnit, I posted my funny story to the next blog post! Hmm. Something funny.

Oh, I took both kids to a new pediatrician. The nurse commented that she never sees cloth diapers these days.

Then 2 minutes later, she made a big deal of pointing out that we can't throw away dirty diapers in the bin in the examining room. If we need to throw out a dirty diaper, we should let the nurse know and she'll give us a baggie for it and direct us to the proper waste bin.

I started laughing, then she looked at the kids again and said "oh wait, you probably won't throw away cloth, will you?"

Yeah, not throwing away my cloth, thanks.

I was in a diaper store a while ago with my then 16 month old. A pair or expectant parents were there, looking bewildered at all the options. The father said "Are you sure about this? I have no idea where to start." Then my DD walked over to the shelf, announced "Bum!" and proceded to put a display model BG on a doll. "OK" said the soon to be dad, "I guess it's not THAT complicated."

This is a little amusing and something I will never forget.
One day, not too long after we started using cloth diapers, my 4 year old son noticed me holding a soiled pocket diaper that I had just taken off my daughter. "Did she go poo poo in her underwear like I sometimes do?" I stifled a laugh and said something about it being a diaper and she was allowed to do that but he wasn't allowed to go in his underwear. He said, "Oh. Well it doesn't really look like a diaper!"
Now he knows better.

I was out shopping with my 2nd child and my 1st was at one of his first days of preschool. It was like freedom! I decided to change my son's diaper even though he didn't have any bm...thinking I had two cloth diapers in my bag. Then we went out for lunch and there was a little package in the diaper...but no diaper to put on my newly 2 year old. I had to put paper towels from the bathroom on him for the 15 minute ride home. I just didn't want him to wreck his carseat! We got home and out of the car and he went before we got into the house. I was so thankful that he waited. Now I try to keep one disposable in the car as a back up just in case it's needed.

Oh! I finally a remembered a sort of funny story. So, my son likes to grab at himself during diaper changes. This, of course, is gross when he's poopy. Well, one day he had a huge poop and I was wiping him up. I was so focused on the bum that I didn't notice he was playing with his poop like it was paint. It was so gross. He had it all over his hands and arms and legs. I don't know how I managed to not notice he was doing this. I had to basically spray him off in the bath, he was so disgusting. Now I always give him a toy when I change him to keep his hands occupied!

A cloth diapering moment I'll never forget: When flying to Orlando in February, we arrived and were attempting to get off the plane. However, my son's car seat was stuck in the airline seat and it was taking several flight attendants to help in get it out. I was holding my then 11 month old son and realized he was very wet. I proceeded to change his diaper (A BumGenius 3.0) right on the row of seats since we were the only ones still on the plane. The flight attendant then offered to hold him while I helped my older son. She noticed the cloth diaper and was impressed with it. I know it's not really a funny story, but it is a cloth diapering moment I will never forget. Oh, and we finally did get the carseat out - and learned that on the return flight we should use a seat belt extender to avoid the same problem from happening again.

This is a funny story pertaining to sposies instead of cloth diapers. I just recently started cloth diapering, so I don't have many stories yet. Anyway... My twin sister was up visiting last spring, and I had just taken my son Liam out of the tub when my little guy, Jack, wanted to be nursed. I asked her to put Liam's diaper and pajamas on for me while I nursed Jack. She got the diaper on him, and went to find his pajamas. I was watching Liam run around in the living room, and noticed something was different...my sister had managed to put his diaper on backwards! When I laughed at her, she claimed it was because she didn't have her glasses on...yeah right.

My funny story was actually repeated again this morning at my daughters one year checkup. We have to strip baby down to diapers for weighing. I did so, only to have the nurse tell me I needed to remover the blue pants. I explained those blue pants were actually her cloth diaper. Again, the nurse seemed confused. Finally she understood that it was a cloth diaper and they come in many colors. Again, I had the oppurtunity to explain cloth diapers. I know cloth diapers aren't exactly mainstream (yet!) but I would expect at a pediatricians office that sees I don't know how many babies, I wouldn't be the only one using cloth.

I don't know how I forgot about this story. I decided to take my 9 month old baby to the mall with me. I went to a clothing store and picked out some clothes to try on in a dressing room. Well, while I was in there I noticed DD had started leaking out of her CD. I didn't want to wait to change her until after I had tried things on and checked out. So, I decided to try and change her in her stroller. BAD IDEA! Getting the diaper off was the easy part, but then she started to squirm all over and up the back of the stroller. It was impossible! It was a small room without anywhere to sit or lay her, so I ended up throwing her over my shoulder and tried to put the diaper on her one handed, which is reeeally hard! She was screaming her head off, goodness knows what the people in the store were thinking. Diaper somewhat on and back in the stroller, I gave her a juice bottle and everything was fine. Never doing that again!

Funny thing that happened with cloth diapers: My daughter is 22 months old & our granddaughter is 18 months old, when my son changes his daughter at our house, my daughter will bring him a cloth diaper & try to get him to put it on his baby. She wants her neice to have "REAL" diapers too.

Well, two small funny things...

1.) When DD was in the diapers w/ Velcro closures she figured out how to take them off pretty early on so I started keeping pants/shorts on her all the time...less than a week later she figured out how to un-do the Velcro tabs under the pants! We have since switched to snap closure diapers.

2.) If I change DD on the floor instead of the changing table she pulls a fast one as soon as I have removed the diaper and takes off through the house. She loves to run around in her Nude-y Booty.

For Tuesday's post: Another thing I will never forget is that, just because a wash routine works for someone else, doesn't mean it is going to work for you! I've had to try lots of different wash routines and am still learning what works and what doesn't!

I lent my small size of Fuzzi Bunz to my friend in Canada but then forgot. Several months later I received a good size package in the mail from her and being from Canada it had the customs form on the outside which detailed what was inside. I noticed that is said it included $200 worth of diapers. I was so excited, only to discover they were the ones I had lent to her earlier. Yet some how it was still fun to have them back.

Just today I was rincing out a poopy diaper in the bathroom sink and my 8 y/o son came in. He looked at what I was doing and got a disgusted look , then asked what I was doing..I told him I was cleaning the diaper and he ran out of the room screaming !

Watching Daddy try to get the prefold diapers on her is always amusing. Hubby has to go really slowly and talk himself through the whole thing. :)

A funny cloth diapering story... hmm... it's hard to think of another one! Well, I think it's funny and like to laugh about how, when I was planning to use cloth, everyone said I'd hate it and wouldn't continue. And now I love it and will NEVER go back to disposable. It's also funny how there have been a couple people who I never thought would be converted who would like to use cloth!

Just watching my mom (who CD'ed with prefolds) figure out how to use BG 3.0's was funny in itself. She thought they should be a lot more complicated than what they really are.

I think the funniest thing is when we go to the doctors and the nurse always have us strip baby down to diapers for weight checks. I always have to explain when told to take off the (insert color) thingy that said thingy is actually the diaper - we use cloth.

Another funny cloth diaper story...humm... Well, I have several TK Cuddlers diapers that have s-hooks. My poor husband always has problems getting those off when he changes Brendan's diaper. He doesn't change many diapers, and I kind of chuckle at him when I can hear him in the other room fighting with the diaper...and then complaining that it's a stinky dirty diaper. Gosh, I don't know if he could handle a full day of diaper changes.

funny story for today: About a month after we started exclusively cloth diapering our youngest, my other two daughters suddenly decided that all the baby dolls in the house needed REAL diapers too....we're talking at least 50 dolls. Every spare piece of fabric is now a doll diaper in our house & at times I have to unpin washcloths from dolls to give the kids a bath.
