How to use a Cloth Diaper Sprayer

I can't believe I'm saying this, but man do I wish there was a "how to" for using a diaper sprayer with an actual poopy diaper! How gross, right? I know, I'm sorry!

DS is in that "in between" nasty poop stage, where he's been eating a tiny bit of solids so while it's not quite the peanut butter poop I've heard so much about, it's not exactly pretty either. And not exactly the easiest to spray off! It's not ploppable but I can never get it all off easily.

That said the sprayer has made my life that much easier. I'd rather deal with a tiny bit of poop than a whole chunky diaper's worth.

And that's the end of my gross post! lol. Oh the joys of cloth...

I just got a sprayer a few weeks ago and have been playing with the best way to use it. Thanks for the video! Very helpful!

I really need to get a sprayer. I didn't think it would be worth the money but I'm starting to rethink that!

I love reading others comments!

Alycia, your right, my first thought too, no poop on the video :(

TheBeckBunch - Definitely worth the $$$

After that, I will say it takes some trial and error to get it right but once you figure that out, you will love your sprayer almost as much as your Fluff.

My 8-Month old is also in the "in between" stage of having runny, sloppy poop. My solution has been to scrape the diapes with old cardboard. It works great.

I cut up old cereal boxes, or anything cardboard. I lay the diaper flat. We have a deck, so this is easy to do outside. Then, I take a piece of cardboard, about the size of an envelope, and I fold it in half so I have a sharp corner, and I scrape the poop. It sounds messy, but it works great. All the poop stays on the cardboard and I just throw it away. It takes a few tries to get good at it, and now it really isn't messy at all. It is the best method I can think of. I think a diaper sprayer would not be all that effective at this stage. Plus, I am afraid of spraying poop all over the toilet seat and lid.

@Alycia Honey I hear you! It is gross but the peanut butter poop can be challenging to spray. I have filmed real poop being sprayed but have yet to get brave enough to edit it into a film. Maybe I will, though it would probably be posted on my site.

I will say that finding the perfect "lift off" point is crucial. There is usually one spot when you bend or shake the diaper around that will "peel" off the diaper. That is your target! You will get the biggest portion of poop off that way. Then you can work on the remainder.

Hopefully that helps you some! Glad the video is helpful.

I keep my diaper pail right next to the toilet. I don't wring my diapers out after spraying them. I just dump them in the pail. I LOVE my diaper sprayer!!

Great video! I keep a wetbag hanging next to the toilet to drop the 'sprayed off' diaper into. That way, I don't have to carry it back through the house! :)

Thanks that helps! I showed it to my Dh... I have been trying to convince him that we desperately need one. Still crossing my fingers for this weeks Fluff Friday, too!

Thanks for the video! I always imagined the force of the spray being strong and squirting spray all over the toilet, the wall, the floor, and me. Not so! I have wanted one, but now I really want one!

I used to rinse my dipes in a utility sink, but we moved and don't have one now, so I REALLY need a diaper sprayer! It looks so easy to use!

I still haven't perfected the sprayer - I definitely spray water all over the toilet. But for those messes that really stick I use a scraper (designated for that purpose only!) They are only breastfeeding poops, but sometimes I'd rather scrape for a second and spend less time spraying (and making a mess). No matter what, it's better than dunking!

I actually fold my in half inside out holding on to the pocket and the front. I have a very powerful sprayer. I lean the diaper against the side of the toilet and spray the back then flip and do the front. This is my only way of not spraying it all over the bathroom. If there is anything left on the sides of the bowl I use the sprayer to clean it up.
