Registering for cloth diapers for a baby shower

My sister-in-law recently had her first baby. After listening to her sister and her three sister-in-laws rant and rave over the wonderful pro's of using cloth she decided to register for some through Kelly's Closet's gift registry.

Even though not many of the other ladies purchased cloth diapers for her she knew her sisters would not leave her hanging. With all of us combined she received six Bum Genius OS 3.0 diapers in a variety of adorable colors, a dozen Indian prefolds, a twelve awesome homemade soakers (made with layers of microfiber and fleece), two cute covers in prints, and some wipe cubes.

Not bad for a starter stash, right?

What amazed me was the interest the other ladies, young and old, took in the diapers when she opened them at her baby shower. Especially the Bum Genius diapers! They had never seen anything like them before. They were amazed at how easy they were to use, how cute the colors were, and how far cloth diapering had come!

All of us girls in the room who already cloth diapered looked at each other happily because we enjoy any conversation that we can have about the benefits of cloth.

We are all confident that our "new recruit" will be happy she made the choice to cloth diaper and now out of the five of us (sister-in-laws) in the family we have all switched to cloth over the past two years!

I had a cloth diaper pool for my shower, I requested it cuz I didn't need any other items! Its the greatest thing ever! I got 12 bumgenius 12 smartipants 2 wet/dry bags 1 hanging wet bag a diapers sprayer and a ton of wipes! a registry and cloth diaper pool is a great way to defray the upfront cost. I literrally get to basically diaper my baby for Free save the cost of laundry detergent!

I had a cloth diaper shower for my second boy since we had everything we needed from our first. I was told it wasn't "proper" to ask outright for a specific item only. We threw caution to the wind and did it anyway. I received almost 30 diapers at my shower! Most of them were one size diapers and EVERYTHING came from Kelly's Closet! Having a registry made it easy for everyone since they had no idea about the 'modern cloth diaper'.

I registered for cloth diapers too, and no one got them. So, when my FIL asked if he could help us out with the baby, we asked him to buy us our stash of diapers. The 24 BG3.0 have been all we've used for the past 9 mo. We're getting ready to expand our stash now, just for fun :)

No one got me anything from my registry anyway so this wouldn't of worked for me :/ No one at my baby shower even spoke english and many didnt know how to spell my name. My MIL threw me a surprise baby shower and only invited her friends from her spanish church....

I registered for cloth for my shower & didn't receive any! However, I would totally by cloth for another mama for her new baby.
That is a good starter stash!

Lucky duck! I registered for cloth diapers, and all I got were 4 packages of the wrong kind of prefolds from a well-meaning aunt, and two packs of liners from my dad (who asked what I wanted). I so wish people would have given me more diapers! Oh well. Maybe next time.

I registered with Kelly's Closet and received quite a nice starter stash! Only 2 people bought from it, but I got 2 fitteds, 2 covers, 3 fuzzibuns and my moby wrap. Many people were curious about them at my shower, especially my grandma who used prefolds with "rubber pants" on her kids. The best part was my mom helped me buy the rest of my stash so we are well stocked until my daughter starts growing more! (We are almost out of the Thirsties duo size 1!)

I wish I had more time to think about CDing before my baby girl was born, I would definitely have registered for cloth. I'll have to remember this for the next baby.

I registered for diapers with DiaperShops through my Amazon.com and received a variety of pockets, fitteds, covers, and even wipes. It was great. They were the only gifts that were passed around for everyone to inspect. My family was super impressed with the diapers.

I made a registry for cloth. I am not having a shower till the baby is like a month old. My MIL wants to wait until her 90 year old mother will be in town visiting. :) I purchased my own newborn diapers. So we're set for awhile. We'll see if anyone decides to buy off of it.

Question: In this post the mama got "wipe cubes" what is that? Are they cloth?? Or is is disposable wipes?? :)

I wish Id registered for CDs for my babyshower. I didnt think to do so because I really didnt think anyone would actually get me some. Now I know that there were a few ladies who attended who would of LOVED to gift me CDs.

This was so exciting to see! We registered for our shower, but didn't get any diapers. I think the idea is starting to catch on, though: my best friend just had her second, and she registered with a local shop that sells FuzziBunz for some girly colors (her first was a boy), and she got lots of diapers and some new wet bags to boot! She was so excited, and it was really fun to see all the new fluff!

I received several cloth diapers at my shower, which was a huge help. I registered for some at target - online registry has BG. And then word got around, and I ended up with a lot of BG 3.0 - it was nice to have the same kind so everything is interchangeable.
