Diaper Sprayer To The Rescue!

We'd been cloth diapering for a little while when my husband finally relented to my pleas and put together a diaper sprayer in our downstairs bathroom. Immediately, I saw a difference: With poopy diapers, the pressure of the sprayer took out the mess in one shot. My diapers seemed cleaner and got fewer (practically none!) stains than ever before. I was happy to have added this accessory to our cloth diapering arsenal.

Now, several months later, I haven an all new appreciation for our sprayer! During a recent a dinner out with a friend, my 18-month-old son loaded up op spaghetti, apple slices, an entire juice box and two Oreo cookies - a much bigger meal than normal. I should have known better, but lesson learned! After he'd been in bed for about an hour, I heard him whimper and then gag, and went in to his room to find he'd vomited all over his crib sheet. He'd thrown up the entire meal!

To make matters worse, my husband was out of town, so I was left with a crying, sleepy kid and a big, big mess to clean up all by myself. Luckily, I was able to pull off the sheet while still holding my son, and take it straight down to the toilet and spray the mess right out! I'm sure you fellow parents can appreciate what a lifesaver this was! It was a big bright spot during an otherwise very, very yucky crisis!

I have a feeling we'll keep finding uses for the sprayer as long as we have kids in the house, even if they aren't in diapers!

If you decrease the pressure on it, it can also be a handy "personal" sprayer for a clean rinse down there. GREAT postpartum!

@Angela, you got that right. I am Muslim, and we use water "down there" every time we use the bathroom. I know I will be getting some extra uses out of it. ;)

I love my diaper sprayer!! I've also used it in cleaning my toilet, rinsing out the inside of the shower/tub stall, mopping the bathroom floor and adding water to my diaper paid for a pre-wash cold soak. It's so much more useful than just a dedicated poop spatula!

We also use ours to spray down the bath after our LO bathes. Very handy!

I love my diaper sprayer and I especially love using it for tasks other than diapering. When I went to purchase a diaper sprayer I was a little bit worried about leaks in our old rental house, my toddler getting hold of it and creating a mess, and I was not a fan of only having cold water come out. So I got a sprayer that connects to the bathtub shower head instead of the toilet plumbing and it is great! I can use it on hot to help clean the bathtub, on warm as a removable shower head for bathtime/rinsing hair and of course on cold for rinsing diapers. Great investment

It's great for filling pets' water dishes and watering cans for outside, too.

My husband has had to go outside in the middle of the night and take a hose to some bedding. Yuck!

The water here in Alaska comes out ice cold from the tap. We have our sprayer hooked up to the shower so when the kids get muddy we can use warm water to spray them off. They sell the whole kit for $17 dollars now at Home Depot. Doesn't get much better than that!

My favorite use for the diapers sprayer...rinsing the cleaner out of the shower after a good scrub down!

I just purchased one of these, as it does seem pretty important in my tiny apartment to be able to clean the diapers without scrubbing in a sink.

Do you recommend any diaper sprayers and where do you find one that hooks up to the shower?

My three year loves to use the diaper sprayer to rinse himself off when he gets sandy or dirty playing outside. It makes clean-up a breeze.

Re: Pahdlavy
I got mine from minishower.net and it attaches to the shower head. I believe is the same company the KC uses for the mini-shower toilet sprayer they sell. It is a little awkward with all the tubing since I want mine to reach from the shower to the toilet, but I guess that is the nature of it.
I wish I was handy like Little Holts and could figure it out just from a Home Depot kit for cheaper

I love my diaper sprayer but never considered using it for anything else. Thanks for the idea!

Little Holts-What is the kit called at Home Depot? I looked on their website and didn't see anything resembling a diaper sprayer?
