Fuzzi Memories: I Have Diaper Changing Envy

It’s funny how the ordinary and sometimes icky task of changing diapers is something us mothers moan and groan about. Let’s face it, it’s not the most exciting thing we do and no one likes to do things when poop and pee are involved.

But as a mom with diaper-less children (my youngest is now 9), I honesty can admit that I miss diaper changing duty. Here’s why:

Diaper changing time used to be so exciting for me. I used to use my children’s bottoms as experimental havens for trialing new cloth diapering products. Now I depend on my network of moms to help trial the new products; however, nothing can replace the day-to-day personal experiences I used to have. I miss that.

Further, I really miss diaper changing time. While the poop and pee left much to be desired (stinky!), I miss those intimate moments with my kids where I cleaned them up, nuzzled with them and soaked in all the smiles they had to offer. Diaper changing duty was fun indeed!

Kids grow up fast and what seems like mundane, day-to-day chores soon become the pinnacle of your fond memories. Enjoy diaper changes and everything it has to offer – it goes by fast!

Known as the “Mother of the Modern Cloth Diaper,” Tereson Dupuy invented the cloth diaper that started the entire modern cloth diapering movement more than a decade ago. She later turned her invention into what is known today as FuzziBunz cloth diapers, a popular brand of cloth diapers since 2000.  As an inventor, business owner and mom to three, Tereson has many years of personal and professional experience in the cloth diaper industry, and she's excited to work with The Cloth Diaper Whisperer to offer her perspective on cloth diapering trends and insights. What a great post ... and great diapers! Thank you for my Fuzzi Bunz :)

I can relate to your message in many ways, not just diapers. I have spent a lot of time wishing the unsavory, tough, tiring times away but when those phases ultimately pass, I miss those special moments with my little guys. Like you, I'm sure that I will miss diapering too when those days are over...

I'd like to thank you for all of those diaper changes and tweaking of diapers...because I am a beneficiary of all your hard work. We have a few fuzzi bunz in our "stash" along with other diapers that have been invented because of you. THANK YOU!!!!

I was just thinking about how sad I am going to be in a year or so when my youngest will be out of diapers... I enjoy it, too. I also enjoy doing diaper laundry and folding it... I hate all other laundry (it's like pulling teeth)

You will never miss diaper changes if you were to ever change my 2 year old! Kicks in the face and screaming cries are not fun.

I have been thinking how TIRED I am of changing diapers! And I'm, only on my first kid! :)

It does go by fast. If I think about it for too long I'll tear up. My first is 12 and her baby sister is 7.5 months already. She's a proficient crawler, she scales the stairs, pulling up is no problem at all and she's trying to stand on her own. :( I swear just yesterday her big sister was doing those things!

I feel you! My daughter is going on 11 months and I am already feeling sentimental about not changing her diapers when she learns to go on the potty. My hubby only wants one and I will need to rely on friends and their testimonies as well. Hopefully someone will be willing to give me first hand experience with their baby:) Everyone loves a little help-especially if you're offering to change a diaper!

I love diaper changes... even if she's tired/hungry/upset, my little one calms down when she realizes she gets to lay on the soft changing table and stare up at Mommy or Daddy while we take care of her. I plan to potty train fairly early, but I know I'll miss this when it's gone.
