You get what you pay for.
I am a huge believer in the above statement. When I received the CCs I purchased, I quickly realized that the flimsy microfiber inserts were good for about half of a pee. My son was only 3 months old and soaking through the microfiber in under an hour! Another not so great thing- sticky PUL/ waterproof material. Ever tried to stuff a pocket and the insert just won't budge and it sounds as if you're rubbing two balloons together? Yeah, it's not fun. As for longevity... I threw one out today because it delaminated and I was too mad to keep it as a swim diaper (my motivation to write this!)

This one is pretty simple... I know exactly where my money is going when buying from a small business.
Shipping: Chinese diapers take FOREVER to arrive.
Two orders placed on the same day... my Kelly's Closet order arrived in about 10 days. My CCs order took another month after to get to me! Ended up costing me more money in the long run because I was still using.. I know, I know.. disposables.
Do you really know what's in those diapers?
This one took me a while to figure out how to write without stirring up too much so to put it simply: One reason I started using cloth was to decrease the amount of chemicals that expose my son to and I realized I cannot determine how many bad chemicals could be in those diapers from China.
As I said, there are stashes made up entirely of China cheapies and people have had no problems with them. Quite frankly, I love cloth diapering and would be happier with babies in CCs than disposables. I would rather show someone how to fold a flat, use a snappi, and throw on a cover instead of teach someone how to pick out colors using things like M2623, B005, P985 though!

I have been cloth diapering my daughter for 2 years now. We started with Flip covers for most of our stash, and have been very pleased. I recently decided I wanted a few new dipes as some old ones were getting ratty from the long hard use.. we got a few cheapies.. they are awful. They arrive smelling so badly of chemicals I cannot even have them in the house.. Washed 6-7 times and then bake in the AZ sun for a month, 6 more washes and finally they can be used.. not worth it. Flips and Bum Genius have never required that kind of effort. I would suggest a small quality stash over a huger cheapie stash any day... covers are my fave anyway. Hands down!
I had some China cheapies at first and this is my advice to newbies. Buy a few really good diapers first. Those china cheapies almost had me giving up. They didn't fit right and they leaked and I realize now that if I had just started out with a few really good quality diapers instead my first experience with cloth would have been hugely different. Luckily I stuck with it and ended up getting a used Flip diaper and LOVING it. Now Flip are what I use most and they work great! I am keeping those CC for swim diapers though or I might let my daughter use them on her dolls. :)
