This is my Wednesday comment. I would like to try training pants before I jump right into underwear when potty training, because I think it would work better that way.

And I just read about the minky trainers and I would love to win those because I think the minky is so beautiful and soft. They really do seem like something that a toddler would be excited to pick out and put on for themselves because of the softness and fun prints and colors.

Why I want to win the blueberry giveaway:

I babysit my nephew (age 2 and 1/2) and my sister and I are having a terrible time getting him excited about potty training. I think these might help! Bonus: I could use them for my son when he's ready too!

Why I want to win this trainers?

We have had my older dd PT for well over a year. But for some reason she is still wetting at night and at naptime. Even if I make her potty before she takes a nap she will still wet. At night I restrict fluids after a certain time make her potty before bed and she still wets. She is getting to big for the FB we use at night and I'd love to find something that worked for us other than a diaper so that if she need to go she could easily get the pants on and off.

And did I mention how cute they are!

Here's my EXTRA comment since I am responding to the question posed for the other giveaway & why I'd like those trainers:

"Why do you want to win these trainers?"

Because the prints look super cute, super soft, and I'd LOVE to find a trainer to help me make potty training fun for my daughter (2.5 years old). A bonus if the trainer doesn't leak and keeps the puddles off my sofa! :)

MaineMomma said...

"Why would I like to win the trainers?" With 2 daughters who could wear them (a 3 yo and a 21 mo), and a third daughter due in March, I would love to free up more of my diapers for our new addition! And maybe they would be an incentive for night time dryness! We tried the other night w a different trainer, and I was woken up at 3:30 AM by a wet and crying child... back to the diapers we went!

Wednesday comment: I'm enjoying reading not only the POSTS about PTing for this week but the COMMENTS as well - since I'm collecting new ideas on how to PT my anti-potty (her stance at the moment) toddler! I'm also excited to learn about these training pant options since pull-ups have not worked at all! :)

We have started our children's training by encouraging them to use the potty while still wearing diapers. Once they are regularly going on the potty, and are wetting in diapers perhaps once a day (other than naps and nighttime), we switch to regular underwear- cold turkey. We've always made the switch while my husband is on vacation, so we just hang out at home for the week. We move the children's portable potty into the open kitchen/dining/living room area so the visual stimulus for going to the potty is right there. After a day or two or a few accidents, my daughters (at 27 and 21 months) are in regular underwear for the day and go on the potty by themselves like pros! Nap and nighttime is a greater struggle... but they are big milk drinkers, so they are heavy wetters!

I'd like to win the Minky trainers because I've been shopping around for good cloth trainers in preparation for the potty training days up ahead.

When I potty trained my oldest son at 2 1/2 we did the bare bottom method for a few day and it worked great. Of course I had to clean up quite a few messes, but that's why we have a carpet steam cleaner, right? I moved the little potty chair out into the family room where we spend most of the day, so it was easy for him to run over to it and use it when he felt the urge. Once I felt he understood what it was for, I moved it into the bathroom. Just eight weeks after I began potty training with him, we went away on a weeks vacation...including an 11 hour car ride. He stayed dry the whole time and used the public restrooms like a champ. I did put him in trainers instead of underwear for the long car ride, but he managed to keep those dry. We now have him in regular underwear (Thomas the Tank engine of course!) all day, and a Fuzzi Bunz at night. He is no where near ready for night training yet. My youngest son is only 10 months, so it will be a while before I embark on the potty training adventures again, but I would love to add those beautiful Blueberry Minky trainers to our stash.

Katrina said...

Why I want to win the Minky trainers: They are hands down the cutest trainers I've seen! I would love a nice soft trainer to use when I night train my oldest, and then again when I potty train my youngest in another two years or so.

also, not sure where i was supposed to leave the "why i want to win the minky trainers" quest. I answered it on that post. (that my potty training daughter needs some extra "sleeping protection" in the form of trainers & is VERY motivated & excited about "pretty underwear" & not keen on diapers anymore). :)

I would love to win the minkys!! I love the blueberry diapers and I am in need of training pants since we are beginning to potty train our two year old. The minkys look so soft and great for nighttime!! I would love to win them.

Katie said...

I prefer training pants just because they are in between a diaper and underware. They help the child to feel like a "big kid" because they are not diapers, but the are absorbant to catch any accidents.

Denise said...

Why do I want to win the Blueberry Minky Trainer?

I LOVE minky & I've been wanting to try the blueberry diaper, but now that I hear they have a trainer that is the one I REALLY want to try. The combination of the minky, the cute patterns and the absorbency will make this perfect for the beginning stages of potty training.

Denise said...

I am not brave enough to start out in regular underwear. My kids have all shown interest in potty training early, so we always start out in trainers & progress to regular undies when they are no longer having frequent accidents.

A tip I wanted to share with all the first time potty trainers...Start with getting your child to recognize when they need to poop....kids who pee train first are much more likely to develop a "fear" of pooping in the potty & wet pants or diapers are soooo much easier to deal with than a kid who will only poop in a diaper.

Why I would love to win the Blueberry Minky Trainers: These trainers sound great! They look so cute too. I would love to win these because I will be potty training soon since my daughter is 18 months and showing us signs that she will be ready soon to start potty training. I think that I am too afraid to start out potty training with only underwear!

The McKitterick Family said...

I haven't had the experience yet of potty training, my daughter is 18 months old, so this will be something that we will be experiencing soon. I think that I would be too afraid to potty train using regular underwear because I would think that it would be a really messy ordeal (and being pregnant with morning sickness I don't think that I can handle messy potty training right now since I can barely handle my daughters messy diapers), so I think that I would use training pants... but a lot of people on here so far say underwear is the best way to go, and in my daughters 18 mo. check up on Monday I ask and the doctor said the same thing, so I have things to learn and think about. I still don't think that I could go cold turkey with the underwear though! It would be nice to have her potty trained by the time I have a newborn in August using cloth diapers as well!

I think to start with training pants until the child starts to get the hang of it and has less accidents. Then I would move onto underwear and keep the training pants for night time.

We use both with our kids. Training pants are great for trips away from the house so that if there is an accident you don't have to change your child's entire outfit. However, regular underwear work great for days at home and they are a lot less expensive then training pants. The only problem that we have had is finding them in small enough sizes.

team krasean said...

It seemed like it took a long time to potty train my son who is now 4 years old. We used Bummis training pants at first and then went to underwear. As others have posted, we also had him naked to learn how it felt when he needed to go.

Potty training has been one of the most difficult parenting things for me.....we'll see how it goes with my second and third kids!!

Both! At home underpants so they get the instant obvious alert that they peed. Away from home training pants so they still get the wet feel but don't leave puddles in public or at friends' houses.

After getting the child acquainted w the potty- having them use it during the day by parental prompting and then child prompting- we have found make the cold turkey switch to real underwear has been the most successful training method. It is a little messy for the first day or two, but our children have (thankfully!) a dislike of the mess and by day 3 are toilet-using pros! Special trainers for nap and night would be more effective than returning to diapers for leak protection as the child will not associate the trainer with diapers, which equal pee in my pants!

When I trained my oldest son, we started out with the bare bottom method before moving to training pants, and then to regular underwear. I found that with him, bare bottom for the first few days worked best, followed by regular underwear. I used my trainers mostly when we would leave the house to run errands, and then when we went on vacation that included an 11 hour car ride. (He stayed dry!) I plan on using the trainers again whenever we attempt night training, which is a while off yet.
