It wasn't until I became a baby-sitter that I saw these newfangled contrapations that called themselves diapers. I want Tatum to grow up the same way. I want her to know that I did cloth because I cared about what went on her bum. I want her to make this world a little more green. I want her to know what a cute fluffy bum looks like. That's why I want Tatum to know about cloth.
Love this week's giveaway. I didn't stop playing with dolls until it became socially unacceptable...we're talking almost 8th grade! My dolls all had cloth too!

Well, my son already knows about how and why we use cloth on his sister. We just told him and he thought it was a good idea. So I am sure we will do the same for her as she gets older. Having cloth as opposed to disposable diapers for the dolls would certainly help. :)

My daughter is too young to really teach her about her cloth diapers. However, she will be the oldest sibling. I will teach her about cloth diapering by having her help me diaper her younger siblings. I will start with simple tasks like fetching me a diaper or helping me hang dry them. I will also get her excited to wear all the pretty colors that she has!

My older son changes the diapers, might as well show him they are easy from the start. My daughter I made some for her dolls and well they turned into underwear for them. Also making them apart of the proccess, folding wipes or stuffing diapers.

My youngest got a doll for Christmas and it didn't have a diaper. So we made her a cloth (out of some old burp cloth) diaper with a snappi, I think it's super important to explain to my girls why I chose cloth as they get older they are 3 and 2. My oldest loves to help fold the diapers. To them cloth diapers are the only kind of diapers there are.

These are SO cute! My 2 older daughters will LOVE playing with these cloth dipes on their dolls while I am "playing" with my newborn doll in 2-3 weeks! As for teaching my beloved children about cloth diapering, I intend to instill those convictions the same way I do breastfeeding and baby food making and all the other beliefs I hold dear- by modeling and demonstrating and taking time to explain why we do what we do... they catch on quick. Since they love their cloth dipes so much now, I think they'll definitely be more inclined to use them on their children!

At 23 months my daughter loves to try to put her diapers on her dolls and it would be so nice to have diapers that are easier for her and fit well. I imagine playing with dolls will help her learn about cloth, and of course she'll see the cloth in use on her sibling when we have another baby.

These are so cute. Carley, it's funny you grew up knowing only cloth while I grew up knowing nothing about cloth! Even when I was pregnant I didn't even think about cloth. It wasn't until I began getting fed up with all the rash paper diapers caused.

I have a 3.5 year old that has asked tons of questions about cloth diapers since we switched to them with his sister about 6 months ago. He actually gets very excited helping sort the inserts/diapers after they are washed. He now asks other people (friends, etc) if they use cloth diapers too.

I have a three year old daughter and a 5 month old son. My daughter loves to help me get her brother's diapers together...she's been trying to be allowed to change his diapers too...heh. I think cloth diapers are amazing these days-and my daughter loves getting to choose which diaper her brother is going to wear. It is nice not having full trash bags of diapers a couple times per week-makes me feel much better about living in our wasteful society(:

I have the fluff fridays button on my very uncool blog. (: But it is there...
My daughter is 9 months old and I started CD'ing her at 7 months. Right now I just try to have fun with her when changing her diaper. I let her play with the shells. She loves it when she grabs the diaper and I say "gimmme gimme gimme!" while trying to shake her off with the diaper, she just giggles! I can let her chew on it without worrying what chemicals she is putting in her mouth!

We try to talk to our children about why we use cloth diapers. And, in general, teach them about creating less waste, recycling, etc. I'm getting some good ideas about having the kids help with putting them together, away in drawers, etc. from other responses! It's great!

I haven't thought about ways to teach my 4 year old son about cloth diapers. I guess I just show by doing. We are new to cloth though, and one day when he saw that my daughter had a messey diaper in one of her cloth diapers he said, "Uh oh, did she go in her underwear like I sometimes do?" So that was a moment to teach him about what they were and that it was ok for her to go in her cloth but not him, lol!
He now likes to help me fold and put them away. I'll be thinking about what play things we can do. Maybe play store and buy some cloth diapers for his sister!

My boys are a little young to understand the difference between disposable and cloth diapers. However, my oldest does help me with the fluff laundry. Although I couldn't use the doll diapers, I would pass them on to a friend who CD's and has a little girl. I would so love the KC gift card though - there are several diapers on my wish list that I would love to pick up!

I love the idea of cloth diapers for dolls! I'm a nurse and that's the way we try and teach kids about their medical conditions/siblings conditions-- through play with dolls, so I think that's a great idea! I'm still pregnant with my first so I haven't had a chance to try out cloth diapers or teaching my own children, but I can't wait!

At this point, I have a toddler who watches me use cloth diapers on her newborn sister and who wears cloth now and then too. With her, I try to emphasize that the cloth diapers are cute and colorful. I think that really gets her interest in them over her boring disposable diapers. All the colors and patterns are so fun! I know that's one thing that's helped me get into CDing! :)

I am pregnant with my third child and I will be cloth diapering him or her. My daughter turns three today and she just loves doing everything I do with her brother (my second child) with her dolls. I am sure it will be the same with her new sister or brother. I love that she is learning about cloth diapering by watching me. What a great give away!

I love the idea about teaching my children the benefits of using cloth diapers. But I will have to say, up to this point I haven't made a huge deal about it. My oldest, who is 4 1/2, loves to help me recycle and understands taht when we do, the material can be used again. I guess this is as good of a time as any to explain why we use cloth. But it's also funny I think that he has never questioned why we use cloth vs. disposables, maybe because he has never known any different.
My son's see "Kylie's diaper and think they are cute. They are 2 and 3 1/2. Right know I am just showing them the good example I can give. They are both in trainers know, so to late for cloth there. As they get older and we have more children we will be able to show them the empact our family's cloth diapering will have. I would hope to show my children the wonderful benefits it gave to us and when they are ready they could make the same choices.

We are new to cloth diapering - only about a month now. My older 3 children were all diapered with disposables. So, there has been an obvious change for my two older daughters (6 & 4) to notice. They love the "fun" diaper colors. Their favorite is our Blueberry diaper in "pink lemonade". The "oohs and ahhs" begin every time we put it on our youngest daughter. :-) It would be great if their dolls could make the switch from disposables to cloth as well!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

My older two daughters also like the fact that we do not have to try to get rid of all of those smelly disposable diapers for their little sister like we did with their little brother. We live in the country and burn our garbage at home, and disposables won't burn. So, when my two-year old son was still in diapers we had to take smelly sacks of disposables along with us on every car ride to get rid of them. :( It's much more pleasant to just put them in the wet bag and transfer that to the wash later on. :)

Another way my older girls are learning about cloth is by fetching the different kinds of diapers and inserts when I request them. Since we're new to cloth, I've tried out a few different kinds but we use them all each day (I only have enough diapers that I still have to wash every day). The girls are learning early about snaps and velcro, hemp and terry, etc....

just using cloth diapers seems to be enough to teach my daughters about them. recently my 5 year old laughed at a baby wearing a "paper diaper" and my 20 month old doesn't even recognize disposables as diapers. We could certainly use a few doll diapers.

this is a GREAT question. my son has been putting our cloth diapers on his teddy's and elmo and whoever else for over a year now, he now has a baby brother and fully understands at 4 what it means to throw things away or choose things that can be reused. what a wonderful GREEn lesson as a parent to pass on. bless ya all.

Sierra, at 8 months, is not quite old enough to teach about cloth, but when she starts playing with baby dolls, I have no doubt that they will wear cloth diapers!

My son is 13 months old, so I'm not sure he quite gets the idea of cloth diapers yet, but as he gets older he will definitely be aware of why we use cloth.

My LO is only 6 months old, so I don't have any specific play strategies yet. But I take a lot of time with her when she's on her changing table, trying make changing time fun. She often "plays" with her clean diaper while I'm working on her bum.

I haven't really thought much about this. Both my little ones are under two so we aren't doing much yet! As they get older and realize that "normal" to us isn't "normal" to everyone else, I hope to be able to articulate why we make the choices we do and how it is healthy for them, the world and our budget!

Well, my DD is only 17 months old thus far. But, I'm always putting a matching CD on her Curious George (unless she is wearing pink...lol). She & George are like two peas in a pod. She used to just take the diaper off but now she opens and closes the diaper...you can see her little mind working and thinking. Plus I always tell her what a cute fluffy butt she has...so as she gets older, she will see her cloth diapers as being cute...much cuter than her peers paper bottoms.

My daughters fold the wipes and put them in the wipe basket. They also help me hang the diapers outside. We all watch my makeshift clothesline outside and wait to see if it will fall over. We laugh as we run outside to hang everything back up! Those are great memories!

In an all around effort to help my child grow to be green, I teach my daughter about how washing the diapers of subsequent children (she's my only now), can keep thousand of yucky diapers out of the landfill!

I have discussed the importance of cloth w/my children including the benefits of health, the environment, & of course, the huge $$ savings. My girls have helped me make recycled cloth wipes out of clothes that have worn out, but could still serve a wonderful purpose. They also help me fold clean diapers, & their dolls wear cloth too :0).
