We had a bit of trouble with diaper rash until I started adding vinegar to the rinse cycle. I found that Lanolin worked very well for my babe's bottom.
What a great prize this week. :)
I am relatively new to cloth diapering, about two months into it. I love it so far. I have not had any problems with rashes. When I used disposables I would notice rashes when my kids diet had something off in it or acidic. Tomatoes were the worst culprit for my daughter. She still has a little bit of food sensitivity with them. I think diet can really affect the skin so not a suggestion on how to cure diaper rash, but maybe how to prevent it. Frequent changing is also a great diaper rash prevention treatment.

One of the things I do, that my husband actually started, is pat my baby dry with a dry wash towel. Sometimes I use the end of the cover I have laid on top of the changing pad as well. My baby tosses and turns so much it is kind of hard to let her air dry without pee getting everywhere! So I try to pat her dry real quick before putting on another diaper.

When my daughter gets a rash I try to make sure she is totally dry before I put on a new diaper...she really likes it when I blow on her butt to speed the process along, it is too funny!

Since I have cloth diapered from day one with #1, I can honestly say that I think I have had very minimal rashes to deal with. But when I have had the occasional diaper rash, I have used just a little bit of Aquaphor ointment with no side effects that I can tell of with my cloth diapers. (That's been almost 5 yrs)
So far we've been able to avoid diaper rashes by letting him air dry between changes and spend time naked or in coverless cloth diapers...

I have not dealt with diaper rash too often. When I do, I have used Budreaux's Butt paste as a barrier and colloidal silver as well.
I would love to win this prize pack! I love all-natural baby products. Currently, I use "Goo Goo Baby Bum Balm" by Baby Carrot, which is made here locally in Oregon. It's great stuff. I'd love to try Northern Essence products. Thanks! jendevries76@yahoo.com
I just started using the Magic stick this week. So far I think it has helped... We will haveto wait and see though.. I should try to change his night diapers earlier in the morning though...
I recently ordered a Magic Stick for the recurring diaper rash that my daughter has (she's been teething!). What an amazing product! It's in tube form, like a giant chapstick, so you don't get it all over your fingers. If I notice a little bit of redness, I rub some on and by the next diaper change it's gone.

I use callendula cream and disposable liners when DD has a rash
I haven't had to deal with any rashes yet! :)
We rarely have diaper rash but when we do I just use Boudreaux's Butt Paste and it's gone within a couple hours. I've heard it isn't good for cloth diapers but I've never had a prob having it wash completely off my prefolds.

I make it a point to use a BG stay dry liner in the diaper overnight if baby's bum has looked a little red during the day. That in combo with a little of the NE TTO/Lavender free diaper rash salve always does the trick...redness gone by morning!

I also notice that taking the time to wipe her bum completely (even with just pee diapers) really helps. I rgink that is what kept her rash from getting out of control.

We just uassualy air her out if her bottom is looking red. She loves the free from diaper time.
Another great way I've dealt with diaper rash is by switching to cloth wipes. I also use Boo Boo Bum spray.

My son still has occasional rashes since we switched to cloth, mainly when he wakes up with a dirty diaper that he's been in for awhile. But now as long as I change him frequently they go away on their own quickly. If he is going to go to bed with a very bad rash I just put him in a disposable with cream for the night.
I have only had to deal with 2 rashes since I began CD'ing my baby 9 months ago. Both times, Northern Essence Diaper Salve cleared it right up!

I've always used pure lanolin on Brendan's diaper rash - always works like a charm. I would love to try the Northern Essence balm though...looks like great stuff.
Since swithcing to cloth (when DD was 5 months) we haven't had diaper rash once!!!

When my daughter gets a rash, we change more frequently, use Method or California Babies diaper cream and have naked bum time.
We recently had a very bad rash which became infected and required anti-biotics from the doctor. I tried everything from yogurt to store creams before going to the doctor. It healed but I fear it will return. I am looking to try something preventative and something more natural that would cure if we get another. Winning this package would be a great start!

MY little boy says PICK ME PICK ME. I want to know if cloth diapers will help my eczema
We have battled a few rashes. California Baby rash cream and Kissaluvs Diaper Lotion potion are wonderful. When my son had yeast though we had to use microfleece liners so we could use Vasaline with Maalox (antacid) and Nyastin without ruining our diapers. I stripped the fleece with blue liquid Dawn multiple times and can still use those liners.

Oh I also want to say that when my daughter gets a little rash I just give her some naked time or let her go around in only a fitted dipe or only a snappi-ed prefold. Rashes go away super quick with cloth but taken forever when we have to use 'sposies.
I haven't had any diaper rashes yet! :)

Another thing I do to help prevent diaper rashes is use a wipe solution to keep my babies diaper area clean!
We just give a soak in an oatmeal bath and allow some diaper free time.
I started using the magic stick and !!!! It seems to have worked on my boys BAD diaper rash!!! YAY!!!!
I haven't had any rashes yet with cloth. However, these new products look great especially the wipes solution! Thanks!

My baby's bum has been clear of rashes for almost a month now!! (since we started using Northern Essence)
With my first son we used prefolds and on occasion when we had a diaper rash I used Dr. Smith Diaper Ointment. It worked great and didn't seem to effect my prefolds.

I feel like we have had fewer rashes since switching to cloth. I am glad about this! We have had our fair share of them, though. Poor baby is just sensitive :) We use your drugstore variety of creams and things usually get better overnight. It's so sad when baby screams during changes because his bum is sore! At least cloth is nice and soft on the bum, even when there is a rash :)

Lots of air for his little bottom! He loves "nakey" time though... That's the only time he likes Tummy Time!

I'm ashamed to say I use disposables with Waleda calendula diaper cream if he gets a rash. rmgoyette at hotmail.com
I have used disposables with Desitin when we have had a diaper rash.
I will be sure to use a barrier cloth or liner when we use something in the future with the cloth diapers.

I've only done this with prefolds - pure olive oil! It works wonders when we're out of our Northern Essence creams. Didn't leave stains, but I do let it soak in before putting a diaper on.
When baby starts to get a little red down there, it seems to coincide with the time of the month that the dipes are in need of stripping/disinfecting. I do the oxi-clean stripping and then use a tiny amount of bleach on just the inserts then several hot rinses...

our son just hit 26m and PT himself (we have another LO due in 4wks) we've actually never had a rash since we switched to cloth at 2wks old with him. I still have my original tube of burts bees from 2007 :) This is one of many reasons for loving cloth!

We haven't had much diaper rash with our son. That said, we convinced our daycare provider to use cloth and asked her not to use rash cream, but she did anyway and it wrecked a diaper :( We had been told Burt's Bees skin cream was diaper-safe, so we gave that to her to use if she really felt the need, but the info we got was evidently wrong, so now we're down 2 diapers. So now she's going to let any redness go and let us air him out at home. We need to try the Better Butter Cream!

Let's see her rash seems to have gone away now. I am not really sure what healed it so fast. I suppose I have been changing her more frequently.
When my daughter gets a diaper rash, I use California Babies diaper rash cream, change her diaper more frequently (like every hour!) and give her naked bum time.
Diaper rashes = no fun

We still use the regular drugstore variety rash creams with a flannel liner when we need to. It works well, but thankfully Seth gets much fewer rashes in cloth than in disposable :)
kmgourley at gmail dot com
I had very little rashes with DS #1 and when I did I mainly used Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment. DS #2 seems to be more rash prone but after switching from prefolds to pockets, mainly FB that have fleece, his rashes have been less frequent and with him I have used only Aquaphor ointment. I love the NE descriptions and just might have to place an order if I don't win this week :)

Before my baby was mobile, I used to lay her down on a towel for a little while to let her air out. If only it were that easy now!!
After fighting diaper rash since my son was in the NICU (for 52 days) as soon as we switched to cloth at home the diaper rash went away!

using wool, especially overnight, really helps clear up rashes.
I use a little extra warm water on my cloth wipes to rinse off poo and then dab gently with a clean prefold to completely dry the area before I put another diaper on. I find if I am too vigorous in trying to clean the area, it makes the redness worse (and it must not feel very good for baby!)...

Fortunately cloth diapering has been great with no massive rashes. If there is a little red I'll use some Naturally Luxe Organic Healing Balm. It's made with organic lanolin, a list of other benefitial oils and some lavender and rosemary EOs. It also works great on winter heels :-)
