Wearing two babies!

There are several ladies asking in the Mobyholic Mom of Twins post about wearing two babies... Serena contacted one of her baby wearing friends (thank you very much), and even though she doesnt have two babies to wear, she called a friend so we could make this post a reality. Both friends wore the babies with their own wraps. This works for twins, or even for a toddler and a baby.

Mom Two:

Two babies can also be wear side to side. If you have a photo to share with us, we would love to see it! Just contact us, and write "Baby Wearing Photo for Blog" on the subject.

I would love to know which products those were and how you wrapped them or what you did to get both babies in there. It will come in handy when Baby Number three gets here. :)

I *LOVE* Denim -so much so that I bought a denim stroller. LOL

Thanks Sarah and friend for taking the time to capture these great photos on how you can carry two babies - on similar or different sizes/ages!!!

I have seen people wear 2 babies at once...or even a toddler and newborn. I think that's awesome! Not sure if I would be doing that since we are planing to make baby #2 about 3 years apart from DD.....that's "our" plan anyways but, who knows what will really happen. :)

There is at least one picture of twins being worn side by side on the Moby Wrap website, I think under the instructions on how to use the wrap, if anyone is interested in seeing that :)

I fully intend on wearing two babies at once when I have another. I even know how I'm going to do it!

I have wondered how a person would wear 2 babies! I may have to check back here for more help if we haven #2 in the near future!

I wear my twins even now that they are almost 1 year old. I have done it with baby bjorns and with slings like peanut shell and hot slings. They LOVE it and I can get a few things done....I even a have an old post on my blog with a photo of me vacuuming with them...

I was wondering if it was possible. Is it comfy for everyone involved?

Lol, I love the first picture! Thanks for answering that question for all of us who were wondering!

Mearat: Yes, it's definitely possible to wear more than one baby! Many moms of twins wear both of their babies - whether using two of the same style - such as two ring slings, two pouches, or two wraps - some even choose alternative methods - like the ones pictures (a wrap and a backpack type carrier).

As for comfort - I'm quite confident the babies are comfy - but for mom (or dad)... it is a lot of added weight so it just depends on your frame and how strong you are I suppose.

Actually, it's not overalls. It's a denim Chunei, and my FAVORITE carrier for back carrys.
Okay, for the other products. The green striped wrap is a BB Slen (paprika colorway). And the black one (though it's hard to see because of the black dress I'm wearing under it) is an Ellaroo Wrap in "Seattle" colorway, size M.
Hope that helps!
Also, the baby on the back in both pictures is a Downs baby. She's actually 2 1/2 years old, but is more like a 12-month-old developmentally, and looooves to be carried by her mommy. The top picture has Down's baby Y's mommy carrying her and her new baby sister, who is only 3 months old. The second picture is me carrying baby Y and MY 25lb 5 month old!
It was a lot of fun taking the pics! Glad you all liked them.

I have worn two of mine at once. My 8mth old in front and my 2 yr old on my back. Sometimes you just have to do it to make everyone happy. Now if my 3 yr old wanted up to I would have to draw the line.

Oh, let me elaborate on what kind of carrys we are using in the pics.
In the first picture, the 3 month old is wrapped in a Front Wrap Cross carry in the BB Slen wrap (paprika colorway). The 2 1/2 year old was then sat on top of the Chunei on the couch and mom sat in front of her and lifted her on to her back by pulling the shoulder straps on. Then, she pulled the front half of the vest around her, and (after adjusting for the size of the baby on front) closed it. Actually, it made a cute picture, but in the process we realized that Chuneis are nearly impossible to use for carrying 2 babies at once. Even though we could close it in front, it put pressure on the baby in front, and if we put the Chunei on first, it left no room to tie the wrap.
Okay, for picture number 2, I did a front wrap cross for my baby in an Ellaroo wrap. I used the BB Slen for the older baby in back and did a traditional rucksack carry (not Tibetan).
I learned most of these carrys from people on thebabywearer.com. And there are great videos on www.mamatoto.org.

love it! are you able to get anything done while carrying two babies? or mostly use it for walks, airport trips, etc?

Awesome. I'm sending my friend with newborn twins the link to this. She is interested in baby wearing so hopefully this will show her it can be done with twins.

If I had had my kids closer together I definitely would have done this! Maybe the third babe will be closer in age to the second!

Yay! I've carried my two. Baby in a FWCC and preschooler on my back in an Ergo.
