An Etsy Store Journey: Baby Doll Cloth Diapers

I'm Missy and my cloth diapering adventure started when my first child was 9 months old using BumGenius 1.0's. I have to admit that I quickly fell in love with cloth and bought a lot of different brands and sizes to try on my son. I had my daughter when my son turned 2 and had two children in cloth for about a year. We used BumGenius 2.0's and then moved onto 3.0's shortly after they came out. I have talked many friends into trying cloth diapers and it made me so happy feeling as though I made a difference in the environment! My daughter just potty trained at 30 months and I'm sad to see my cloth diaper days come to an end.

When my daughter was about to turn 2, she started playing with her own diapers and struggled trying to put them on her baby dolls. They didn't fit well and she got frustrated. I wanted to make her something that she could use to diaper her little babies that was cute and she could use over and over. Now, I have to admit that I didn't sew very much before I started practicing on her diapers, and the first few were a disaster! But I quickly learned my way around a sewing machine and perfected my diaper pattern. I wanted the diapers to look and feel just like the real thing, so I decided to make them with fleece lining and flannel print. I also use real elastic on the legs and in the back of the diaper for a better fit. My diapers come in two sizes, small and large to fit a wide range of baby dolls.

In December 2009, my Baby Doll Diapers Etsy store was born. I've had so much fun making these diapers for so many children's baby dolls and stuffed animals. I get a lot of orders for birthday gifts and I look forward to the holiday season to come. I have had a lot of success with my 6 pack of pastel diapers for people who want a nice mute color to match their doll's clothes. I have recently added matching bibs to the mix and can make a bib in any of the coordinating diaper prints. I'm in the process of increasing my stock and rephotographing all of my pictures for the holiday season. I will be adding lots of new prints in the next several months.

I am a full time working mom of two beautiful children (ages 4.5 and 2.5). I also have two Etsy shops which I work on in the evenings and on the weekend. I love to read books, sew and crochet and I'm slightly addicted to Facebook. My husband helps by doing most of the house work and also does most of the cooking so that I can concentrate on my different adventures. To him, I'm very grateful. We also have a shih-tzu puppy named Sadie who makes us laugh every day and brings us so much joy. I also have to include my Mom in this because without her, I would not have been able to be where I am today. I'm so lucky to have a caring, supportive and helpful family.

Ohhh! These are SO cute! What a great idea!! Wish I had a girl! :(

My boys do have a couple dolls they played with as toddlers (we got them when the next baby was about to be born, it was EXCELLENT for preparing them for a new baby in the family) but now our bigger boys are outgrowing them a bit. Maybe when our baby gets a little bigger and plays with them I'll get a couple for the dolls we have.

Those are soo cute! I've made a few doll diapers for people and they're just so tiny and adorable! Little girls shouldn't be forced to use bottles and paper diapers with their dolls- cloth and nursing should be an option! Good for you mama for helping to make that happen!

These are awesome! My 3 year old is constantly stealing her sister's diapers to use on her dolls. I think I know something that we will be getting her for Christmas!

Great idea! I used to diaper my dolls with my own cloth diapers my mom saved! I know my little girl would love some of these.

These are so cute! I love the idea of cloth diapers on baby dolls. I finally have a little girl after 2 boys so the baby dolls will be coming into the home soon. I am definitely going to have to invest in some "fluff" for the dolls too. How exciting.

Very cute. When I first started making cloth diapers, I *accidentally* made some really small ones that my daughter uses for her baby doll.
