I was diapered in flats as a baby, but since I'm new to cloth diapering, I've never tried one myself. I can say that flats are very versatile and fit a wide range of sizes, and after they've finished their life as a diaper, they make excellent dust rags!

I haven't used flats but I'm thinking about using them as pocket inserts.

I haven't tried flats but I'd imagine it would be a great way to add/build a stash for fairly cheap.

Britni Bradford said...

we haven't tried flats but they would be great to have in our stash for emergencies when you might lose power or if baby is struggling with a yeast rash. Thankfully we've never faced either of these.

I LOOOOVE the Quinn! :D

I have some flats. After cloth diapering two babies from birth to potty without ever trying flats I thought I'd check them out when our newest baby was born late last year. At first I didn't like them but after reading reviews and comments on how easy they are to wash and dry and how trim they can be I decided to give them another try. I was starting to think they were too much trouble to fold until someone suggested pre-folding them and that they're no more trouble to pre-fold than it is to stuff a pocket diaper and that was sort of a light bulb moment for me. I also found a video on youtube on how to get a tight fit and since then I like them. My problem now is I need a few more covers. DH uses pockets exclusively so I try to use the rest of our various stash including prefolds and of course, flats. I was considering taking the flat/handwashing challenge but I've got a lot of stressful stuff happening in my life right now so I'm going to try to simply utilize flats only that week but I'll be using my washer and dryer.

I am brand new to cloth diapering. I have not tried flats and don't think I would want to. Seems complicated and time consuming to fold.

I've not tried flats for more than burp cloths, except for the occasional emergency when out 'n about. We just love our prefolds/covers.

flats are so cheap and dry faster than any other diaper. they are perfect for out of town trips and camping cause they're so easy to hand wash!

I haven't tried flats but would like to. They seem like they would be less bulky than our pocket diapers an AIOs!

I've used flats as doublers a few times.

I have not tried flats. I am new to cloth diapering and they seem like they would be a little more work but would be open to trying.

Im new to cloth diapering and having fun discovering all the different ways there are to diaper!

I purchased flats at the very end of diapering my potty trained toddler, so I didn't get too much experience. But, I will for sure use them starting as a newborn for the next baby.

We have not...we haven't really tried anything (but aios briefly with my son) since baby isn't here yet;)

I haven't tried flats (or any cloth diaper) yet, but I'm pretty certain I want to go the cover route anyways. I suppose using flats would cut down on dryer time, since there are no extra layers that would need extra drying time.

Never tried flats before, but with baby number 2 on the way I'm up for it!

I find it fun to figure out different ways to fold flats.

I haven't tried anything yet. I'm looking into the different options, and planning to build a stash. I'm leaning toward AI2, but want to try some prefolds and flats as well.

Unknown said...

I haven't used flats but interested in trying.

Laura Beth said...

I haven't tried flats, but would love to. I definitely lean toward pockets, but I think it would be fun to introduce flats!

Sarah W said...

Only pockets to date, but I am building a supply of flats and covers for baby #3.

We use flour sack towels and ikea burp cloths as flats and use them for travel. We rarely get leaks and its nice to not have any trouble shooting (is the fleece repelling, does the microfiber need to be tripped).

i used flat diapers when visiting my parents who have well water. i pad folded and placed in covers. I found them to be easier than pocket diapers and they dried much faster than prefolds so I was able to get buy with just 12 flat diapers

My baby isn't here yet, but I received a flat today and can't wait to try it!

Kaitlyn V said...

I love my flats! They are really a lot easier than most may believe. I don't hedge when it comes to picking up a flat over and AIO, I love them all equally!

Yup we use flats, we have a really diverse stash so that we have options that work best for each situation. It is not unheard of to lose the power here for a couple days and be snowed in so we wanted to make sure we had an option that would be easily laundered.

I am expecting my second child in July and have decided to cloth diaper now that I am a SAHM. The choices are endless and a little overwhelming. I was planning on buying AIO's but flats do seem to be a quick and easy and are cheaper. Thanks for the info!

Great information on flats! Thanks!!

I'd be interested in trying!

I have 6 blueberry flats and LOVE them! I pad fold them and lay them in a shell.

I used receiving blankets as flats when my little one was a preemie/newborn. I don't use them anymore, but would love real flats to stuff pocket diapers.

Emily said...

I'm new to cloth diapers (first baby is just 2 months old), and I'm not familiar with flats. I'll have to look into them!

Stephanie T said...

I have not tried flats. I'm sure they would save money, but seems like they would be more difficult to get on a wiggly child than pockets or all-in-ones.

Diana B. said...

I haven't tried flats but I want to because they seem like they would be easy to take care of.

I have never tried flats, but I placed an order with Kelly's Closet this week and got the special coupon to try the free flat and cover. I am not sure yet how I like cloth diapering especially since I just had my precious lil baby on Mother's Day and he is only 9 days old now. But so far I have started a small stach of several different types of diapers and I am still waiting to see what I like best.

I haven't tried flats - but I would imagine they would be pretty similar to a prefold. I didn't use many prefolds with my first baby, but now with my second he seems a little more sensitive to fibers/detergents and cotton prefolds have been my lifesaver. They wash so much easier (as I am sure flats would, too) and we have no more diaper rash! Yeah!!

I have used and still use flats. My favorite folds were origami and the Jo fold. I also like them stuffed in a pocket diaper.

I haven't tried flats yet...my next foray in that direction is to try more fitteds.

I am an expectant mommy (due in less than a month now!) and have no experience with cloth diapering, though I am wholeheartedly for it. According to other mommies, flats are very easy on the wallet, versatile in function, and simple to care for. I will definitely add flats to my stash and try them out for myself.

I love my flats. They wash up so well. Its all we use right now!
