I haven't had the need yet but the hybrid diaper of my choice would have to be a toss between GroBaby and the new Flip system. Next summer we're planning to go out of town to a family reunion (Camping, so no washing machines!) and I am so glad that there are systems where I can use the same cover from my cloth diapers with a disposable insert! The flip is attractive to me because you don't have to snap the insert out after it's wet/dirty, which I can't imagine would be fun. But I love the look of the grobaby diapers and I like that they have the hook/loop for a better fit on babies of any size. I am so excited about the new prints coming out, I am planning on getting both of the boy prints!

I used to think I'd use gdiapers but now that grobaby has the bio inserts, I definitely think grobaby! I love the shells, and I think they look better than the gdiapers. I also love being able to wipe down the grobaby shells and reuse them.

when I can't use cloth diapers I like to use g-diapers.
Why?
G-diapers is the diaper that was my first step towards cloth diapering. I went from disposables with dd1 to chlorine free sposies with dd2 to gdiapers with dd2 and then when they were backed up on flushable inserts (being a new & growing quickly company) I needed diapers for my dd. I switched to cloth & our family has been happy with them ever since. But without g-diapers, we might not have ever made the switch.

I use GroBaby and gDiapers with cloth inserts right now, I like gDiapers b/c the snap-in liner holds explosions better (and keeps the gpants clean) but I like that GroBaby is one-size and has great velcro. I would probably use either disposable option!

Anonymous said...

I would use the Grobaby. The fit is great on my chunky monkey. I love versatility of the Grobaby system. I have never experienced a leak so Grobaby is our go to dipe when going on errands or long trips. We are preparing for a trip out of state and I can't wait to try out the biosoakers while away =)

We went on a longer vacation earlier this summer. It was before GroBaby Biosoakers or Cottonbabies Flip were available. We decided to try Gdiapers after finding them on an awesome sale. We paid about the same price as regular disposables per insert. While the gdiapers were great for a trip, I wouldn't want to use them all the time. The don't hold very much & the insert bunched around inside the diaper quite a bit. So they weren't perfect, but were very cute!

If I had to use the hybrid systems versus just the inserts, I would not be going with the g diaper system. We had so many leaks!! I have plenty of leftover inserts that I will use with any number of other covers, but not the g cover. I have 1 Grobaby shell and have used it with a g insert. But it would be great to have the non-stick tabs like are on the bio-soakers! I would rather go with the GroBaby and the bio-soakers or the new bumGenius Flip system, than the "eco-friendly" disposable because it still seems like there would be less waste involved.

I would definately use the gDiaper. I traveled with my son out of state while he was two months old and we couldn't use cloth diapers because we were staying in a hotel and I didn't want to wash his diapers in the hotel washing machine because of the harsh detergents that are usually used plus I didn't have a diaper sprayer on hand and he's breastfeeding. I really wish I would have had some gDiapers but since I was still on maternity leave I was on a strict budget and all my extra money went to buying cloth diapers, wipes, a diaper sprayer, etc. So we just had to use the pampers that were given to us at our baby shower because no one believed I would actually be sucessful at cloth diapering. My son is 5 months old and has been cloth diapers most of the time. I would have LOVED to have afforded the gDiapers at the time...now I wished I would have just charged them!

P.S. His only encounter with bottom redness was on that particular trip with disposables.

I'd probably use gro-baby. I haven't tried a hybrid diaper yet, but like that there aren't many chemicals in it. As far as when I'd use them...probably travel. I'd hate to loose my CD's with lost luggage. At least with those I could carry on all the covers and pack the bio-soakers in the checked baggage! That way I'm only out a little bit!

Gigi said...

I'm a newbie to cloth diapering and learning about the different types, styles, sizes, brands is almost like learning a new language, but I think I'm catching on.. Well, if I was somewhere and disposable diapers were more convenient, my first thought was the gdiaper since I've already heard such good things about the diaper. I haven't heard of the Grobaby, but I went over to their site and really liked what I saw..the design, the ability to just wipe it clean and reuse. So, my novice vote would be for the grobaby diaper. Maybe the seventh generation diapers, but.... then again.. maybe not! Doesn't Seventh Generation diapers have the same liquid absorbency bead thingys like conventional disposables like Huggies, Pampers etc???

I wish I could say I know from experience (on the gdiapers, gro baby, and flip), but we've only ever used cloth or sposies. When I'm desperate for a disposable (such as long trips), I usually go with *gulp* Huggies. It's one my kids don't break out from. But if there's a store nearby that carries Seventh Generation, I go with the chlorine-free dipes.

I'd LOVE to try a hybrid (I'm already feeling convinced by several of these posts!). My baby girl is probably a size 2!
