around $24 since I used to buy a pack a week of disposables. That is before I buy some fluff :)

We save around $15/week - that's an estimate assuming we would be using Luvs otherwise. Maybe a little more, since I never factored in disposable wipes, Diaper Genie refills, or gas for trips to the store to buy diapers. LOVE cloth!

Kayla said...

We have been using cloth for almost 6 months now! Our daughter's bottom hasn't touched a disposable in probably 4 months or so :)

It's been so long since I used sposies. I probably save anywhere between $20-30 a week.

For the first 6 months of cloth diapering I was determined to prove they were cheaper, even doing it the new and improved way with nice cloth diapers, sprayer, wet bags, and everything! The innitial cost of cloth diapering is alot but within a couple months it evened out, and by 5-6 months we were in the green! no pun intended lol. But per week I"d say we save at least $30 in diapers, and then we save by not having to purchase diaper ointments, gas money running to the store for buying diapers, save not having to purchase wipes, .... so much to save on! You'd save even more if you use prefolds and covers! But if you do it the fun way like I do with all the new style pockets or AIO diapers and all the awesome amenities it still saves a quite a bit of money!

We save at least $30 a week on diapers, wipes, not having to use any ointments, etc. even with using the nice pocket diapers and everything else like diaper sprayers it's much cheaper than disposibles!

Between my 2 kids, I'd estimate that we save about $20 -$25 a week by using cloth.

Anna K. Eaton said...

I once read that each disposable is 25 cents. so if that is correct and I use about 10 per day at the moment, that is 2.50 per day and 17.50 per week!

I am sure I save about $20 a week avoiding sposies and using cloth. Love every dollar (and cloth diaper)!

Mommy said...

15$ a week is what I am thinking we used to pay.. We are getting ready to have another baby here though so that would have gone up had we not started using cloth. We will have 3 2.5 and younger.

happy mom said...

I guess after washing, the use of water and electric costs, the upfront cost (has paid off two fold) I am saving about $30 or more a week. My almost two year old uses about 5 diapers a day and my almost 4 month old uses...I lost count... so If I was using disposables I would be paying much more than I could afford and pileing up the garbage cans with waste. I used disposables when we flew to visit family and I wanted to cry at the waste in the basket.

I save about $8 a week using cloth diapers. Olivia is 13.5 mos now so she doesn't need changed as often as a smaller baby would. She only was going through about a smaller pack of Luvs a week when we switched. Using cloth for only 3 mos completely covers the amount I jsut spent on new diapers!

I've used cloth on and off for 6.5 yrs now. My oldest is almost 7 and we started when he was 3 mos old and then I've gone back and forth between cloth and sposies for the last 3 kids. My youngest is 13.5 mos and we just made the switch back to cloth full time!
