Does Your Baby Suffer from Unsightly Diaper-Butt?

You probably know what Diaper-Butt Syndrome is. It's those disposable diaper wearing babies whose plastic ruffles stick out of the top of their pants and scream to the world, my diaper is ugly! While we all know that cloth diapering is good for baby and good for Mother Earth, many mamas admit they wear 'em simple for the style-factor. Their babies, simply put, look cute down to their bottoms. No unsightly diaper butt - just colorful and fluffy, round rumps.

Diaper style has come a long way since my kids were in diapers several years ago. Even the first FuzziBunz prototype was pretty ugly by today’s standards. Today, cloth diapering parents can color coordinate their baby’s diaper to match their clothing, mood or event!

Cloth Diapers are Meant to be Seen: Cloth diapers are meant to be seen and coordinated with baby’s wardrobe. And with tons of colors to choose from, cloth diapers can match with just about any outfit! Peeking out under dresses, with only a t-shirt and leggings or by themselves, cloth diapers are a part of the outfit, not something to be covered up.

Cloth Diapers Keep Elmo at Bay: Our babies love Elmo and Mickey Mouse, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be on reiterated over and over again on their diapers. Plus, Mickey doesn’t match with much and doesn’t have the understated style a cloth diapered tush does (not to mention you can get great photos of your baby in a cute colorful diaper any time of day with cloth…those dorky characters and pesky ruffles can ruin your pictures!).

Cloth Diaper Allow Babies to Flaunt their Babyness: Now let’s talk about round squishiness of a cloth diapered bottom. Adorable, right? Most cloth diapering mamas would say so, but I think society in general has gotten so accustomed to the trim profile of disposables that they don’t appreciate the fluffy-diaper look. Aside from the fact that the trimness is only made possible by inserting lots of chemicals into the diaper layers, it’s sometimes hard to tell that a disposables baby is even wearing a diaper…yet diapers are the hallmark of babyhood! Instead of hiding it, let’s love our little fluffy bunz and help our kids embrace what a great movement they are a part of! (And try not to make fun of those poor kids with Diaper-Butt Syndrome!)
