FuzziBunz One-Size vs. Perfect Size

When we cloth diapered my daughter, we used bumGenius One-Size diapers - almost exclusively.  While we were happy with the overall performance of the BGs, we wanted to try a different brand with our son.  I had heard about FuzziBunz and how fantastic they were.  So - we ordered a good supply of size small FuzziBunz Perfect Size diapers.  I also had one FuzziBunz One-Size diaper to try.

I was really surprised when comparing the two.  When I had read about the diapers, the Perfect Size diapers promised a more trim fit than the One-Size.  However, when using the diapers, I found quite the opposite to be true.  The Perfect Sized diapers seemed a little more bulky to me than the One-Size FuzziBunz.  I found the One-Size to be very trim on our chubby baby.  When he outgrew the size small FB, we switched to the medium sized FBs.  I noticed the very same thing.  The Perfect Sized medium diapers were much more bulky than the One-Size FuzziBunz.

The other differences aren't as pronounced - but present nonetheless.  I find with the Perfect Size (PS) diapers, I get more leaks during bedtime use.  The OS diapers seem to be a better fit, overall - with fewer leaks.

As for ease of use - both diapers bode well.  But the Perfect Sized diapers are a bit easier - since I don't have to adjust the elastic in the legs.  The One-Size (OS) diaper is much more durable.  When we used the PS size small, a couple of them didn't hold up well and the PUL started to wear out here and there.  The OS diaper that we have seems to be made of higher quality materials all together.

As for the inserts - I can use almost any type/size of insert with the PS diapers.  Alternately, the OS diapers seem to only fit the FB inserts that came with them.  That is a bit annoying when I'm in a hurry and just want to grab a diaper and an insert on the run.

Both diapers are great.  I like using FuzziBunz well enough.  I think the diapers are just as good - if not better - than the bumGenius line.  They are soft against my baby's skin, the colors are pretty, they wash well, they are easy on the planet and equally easy on the wallet.  No matter the size, FuzziBunz diapers are definitely good diapers.

Whew! All this time I thought I was doing something wrong with my PS diapers. I've had the same experiences you've described and also have a chunky baby.

I totally agree! I always hear rave reviews about Fuzzibunz PS but we have a bunch of OS and LOVE them! The one PS we have doesn't fit her as well as her OS at all.

i honestly hate my OS fuzzibunz. I don't get it because everyone raves about them. These are the only diapers in my stash that I know are going to leak, every time. I hate using them and always wait til I'm down to nothing else. Am I putting them on wrong? I know I've got them sized right because I've messed around with them a lot.

My only beef with the Fuzzibunz one size diapers is that when you have them set to a smaller setting, the extra fabric in the front just kind of bunches and pooches out weird. With the BG one size, the extra fabric folds in on itself with the snaps. But the nice thing about FB one size is that it is very narrow between the legs, whereas the others (perfect size and BG) are much wider.

I'm glad Fuzzibunz worked for you. We got some to round out our mostly bumGenius stash, but we hated them. Our long and lean baby leaked through every single one. We ended up having to sell them at a discount to a friend who loves them. To each his own, I guess. :~)

I have only used a medium perfect size, and it is definitely a little bulky. Based on your experience, I might give a OS a try sometime...thanks!

I agree! I love my Fuzzibunz! Almost my entire stash is one size:) When I put a diaper other than FB on my baby, she looks at it weird and tries to take it off. Funny girl!

I find the OS to be so small (narrow), that it's hard to stuff them with enough absorbency to make it overnight. I'll only use OS during the day now, and save our Medium PS (double-stuffed) for bedtime. Son is 15mos and 19lbs with no chub.

I love our FuzziBunz OS! I have never tried Perfect Size but I don't see any reason to. The One Size fit from when we started around 1.5 months and I don't forsee them being outgrown before potty training. Other than our gDiapers the FB are the trimmest dipe we use by far - And unlike the g's, the FuzziBunz don't cut into my baby's chubby legs.

We love our OS and our PS Fuzzibunz. The Medium size fits my super-skinny and tall 25 lb. 2 year old daughter really well. It is true that it's difficult to stuff the OS for nighttime. Our BumGenius 4.0s are by far the easiest for that!

I was actually just wondering what to buy for our next little one to be born in November. Due to a sad laundry accident most of our OS and small size diapers were ruined. I can definitely say that Fuzzibunz of either description are at the top of my list!

We have one os fb, a freebie from an order. I do like how trim it us, I've never put it to the test of overnight. However, I do find it difficult to even add the booster into the pocket. For me that isn't a big deal because I change my son's diaper about every 1-2 hours. Good thing to know about the PS - since we've considered baby #2 I've thought about cding from the beginning (with ds we started @ 1month) and thought about newborn dipes. Maybe we'll just stick with what we have.

Just the opposite for us. We always have leaks with one size and the PUL is sticky. However, I never have leaks with our perfect size. They are trimmer than our other one size diapers and are my absolute go to diaper. And I have a lot! I just put away our smalls and they have lots of life for the next baby. I did have PUL start to delaminate on two, but FuzziBunz replaced them for me!

I agree. The PS work well for my older son with chunky legs but the OS work better for my younger son who is much skinnier. I started DS1 in Medium FB at about 10 months old. My 6 month old is almost 18 pounds, which is the beginning weight for the mediums and they are huge but the smalls are almost too small. So I am liking the PS better on him.
