My little one isn't here yet, so it's all theoretical, but I think I'm going to like snaps better. I can't see velcro holding up to the washing process.

I like both. I am not a fan of the snaps for newborns/small infants, because you don't have enough control over the sizing... but now that my baby is 6 months and big, it doesn't make a difference. I don't like how the velcro curls with wash after wash.

I love both snaps and aplix, however I tend to lean more towards snaps since they don't wear out as quickly.

I like them both for different reasons. I like aplix b/c it is easier to put on. I like snaps b/c they don't wear out and they are harder for older babies to get off.

I prefer aplix because I can usually get a better fit. However, my toddler can now remove aplix diapers so I find myself using snapping diapers more and more.

dannyscotland said...

I prefer the Aplix or other hook and loop style closures. I have one diaper with snaps, a very popular brand, and I detest it. The snaps are too complicated to line up properly, and it takes me five minutes to figure them out. Needless to say, by that point, she's crawled across the floor and I'm holding an empty diaper. Aplix for me all the way!

I think I would like the snaps better than aplix because I would worry that the aplix would become "fuzzy" or pill. I think it would be ideal to have a set of cloth diapers last long enough to use with more than one baby.

Amber Liddle said...

I like both for different reasons. Snaps work well for my toddler because she knows how to undo the Aplix. But the Aplix is easier when she's wriggling everywhere.

I just started using snaps, and I think I prefer aplix right now. With a wiggly bottom, it's easier to get a good fit on him with the aplix. Although I am trying to get used to the snaps for when this little man gets old enough to undo hook and loop on his own! I am a Facebook fan, and I am a follower!

gotchagomo said...

I feel more and more technologically-challenged everyday--I hope I'm doing this right! I am just starting to amass a stash of CD for DD#2, due in December. I think GroBaby diapers with the aplix look great--judging by pictures only, it seems the aplix on these new diapers will hold up better than other brands.

Kristin said...

I really like the concept of snaps - less scratchy when I am carrying the baby in just a diaper - but I have struggled with adjusting the snap diapers I have. So for now my preference is aplix.

I think I prefer the snaps better just because I know velcro can curl up. Also, lint or hairs can stick to it and I would end up picking at it! But maybe with cloth diapers I would be more careful in taking care of it and would not mind trying out diapers with velcro closures. The upside to it is that it's easier to use than snaps on a wiggly baby!

We prefer snaps. Our original stash of BG 3.0 with aplix just hasn't held up. I've heard that some of them had bad aplix and other are just fine, but ours are curly, don't stick to the laundry tabs anymore, and make a big diaper snake in the washer. Cotton Babies has fantastic customer support and sent me free aplix replacement parts, but it's still a hassle to have to re-sew it all. We've now switched to Fuzzi Bunz for the snaps.

Since our baby is due in September, we still have not used any diapers yet. However, so far, in looking at the various diapers, I have really enjoyed the snaps more. I also have a friend who uses disposables with the velcro tabs and she find her daughter is able to remove the diaper WAY too easily!! So, I think snaps might be a great way to go!

To be honest with you I love both. I love the convenience of aplix. It's easy to get on and off and you don't have to worry about button. But I also love buttons. They seem to be more secure than applix, and when baby gets bigger they can not get their diaper off as easily.

Honestly I like both. However for night diapers the snaps hold better for my little wiggle worm.

Right now, I like Aplix since it gives a better fit and it's so easy. But, I am fairly new to cloth diapers, so I have not had any issues with them wearing out.

h h said...

Snap diapers are my all-time favorite. They are easy to use, launder fabulously and typically the diapers look brand new even after more than a year of full-time use. Aplix is annoying in the laundry, laundry tabs wear out eventually-leading to diaper chains and aplix grabbing and snagging other diapers and wearing the fabrics faster. I didn't realize how annoying aplix is until I had my Bum Genius for more than 3 months...and by a year of use, well the aplix works but barely, and mostly it just snags my other diapers. I bought a whole new stash of side snapping diapers this spring (for the arrival of our second baby), and finally we retired ALL our aplix diapers--yippee so glad I did! Laundry for two babies in cloth is so much simpler/faster with SNAP diapers!

Anonymous said...

I prefer snaps generally. I don't think aplix lasts as long and I don't want it to scratch my baby. I do have the grobaby with velcro and I do love how soft the velcro is. However, I still don't think it'll last as long as snaps... easier to take off, too!

I prefer SNAPS! That's what I'm planning to go with. The whole velcro thing seems like it would get messy and not hold up for many babies! (which I plan to have!)

Becky said...

Snaps. I find that the Aplix on most of my diapers is starting to pull funny or get puffy. Also, the laundry chain of diapers is annoying. Finally, little man is learning how to undo his diapers. The one good thing about aplix is it's quicker than snaps.

I prefer snaps (but have only 3 out of 35) because my husband has an inability to fasten diaper tabs correctly, no matter how many times he is told/shown. So I either have to go through every diaper I put in the wash rather than just dump them, or I have to deal with a "diaper ball" because they are all stuck together!
