I have tried both and I can honestly say that I like both for different reasons. Aplix is the fastest to fasten and you get a PERFECT fit every time. But snaps are definitely my favorite because you never have to worry about laundry tabs, snagging etc. so they look newer longer. And they are super sturdy so my daughter has never even tried to open her diaper (where as with aplix, she opened it all the time). But the aplix on the GroBaby is the best aplix I have seen yet.

Today's entry: I also like snaps better because it doesn't wear out like aplix do.

heather[dot]mcdougle[at]gmail[dot]com

Stacy Whalen said...

Pros and cons to each. I love the minute adjustability of aplix, but after 4 months of solid use of BumGenius aplix, it is coming loose and is not as fixable as what I thought it'd be. Plus, it pills up and doesn't look as professional as snaps, though that is a purely aesthetic point. I don't like how aplix sticks to everything, even if you have it fixed to the laundry tabs.

I like the quality of snaps and the fact that babies can't undo them as easily as aplix. BUT, I wonder if it works as well on one size diapers, where more of a range of adjustability is required.

That said, I'm going with snaps with any new diaper I get.

Upstatemamma said...

I totally prefer applix because my squirmy girl does not like to sit still so the faster the change the better.

Tricky question-
Aplix is easier for sitters and grandparents (FuzziBunz totally perplex my MIL). It also allows you a perfect fit.
...But aplix wears out faster, can snag other diaper items in the wash, and collects lint.

I have some of both, and like both. I like the fact that my toddler can't get the snaps off, so I don't have to worry about a naked girl carrying her diaper around peeing on the floor. However, my daughter is very skinny, and I find I am able to get a better fit with aplix. It all depends on what mood I'm in and what's clean.

At first, I thought Aplix was much easier to use and thus the better choice. But after using cloth diapers for over a year on my son, I've realized that snaps are much more durable. I wish I'd purchased more diapers with snaps.

I'm a snap fan. They hold up so much better over time. The largest reason we do cloth diapers is the long tern cost investment vs the long term continual cost. Every time I purchase a aplix type diaper I feel like its defieting the purpose because the get so yucky in the wash.

usually, I'd say snaps because I have a toddle who LOVES to take off her diaper and do her business on the floor. but I've read on diaperpin about the 'super duper' velcro on Gro-Baby. so I'd have to say it's worth a try!

I a suscriber to blog/twitter and a facebook fan and I really want to try the grobaby diaper! I was excited when I first saw these and I would love to win them because I hear great things about them and I think it would be a really simple diaper system.

lawmommy26 said...

Well I forgot to put that I would prefer snaps, because my son won't be able to open them and I do think they last longer also. Even my bumgenius aplix (which has held up more than other diapers I have tried) is falling apart alittle and I don't think they will make it to my next baby.

I found that the Swaddlebees with Snaps didn't fit my daughter well, but the aplix thirsties fitted fit so well. Snaps look better. I don't think I've used enough of a variety of CD's to have a preference. Based on my experience, I like the aplix better because of fit and ease of application.

I have both and use both equally. They both have their unique pros and cons. But I will say that I haven't ever heard of one complaining that their child was known for removing their snap diaper. Well low and behold my 21 month figured out how to unsnap today. Result = wet bed + dry diaper. He never has removed a diaper before now aplix or snap. I have been saying for months that he will be my engineer. He is always trying to figure things out.

Right now i prefer aplix because it is faster and easier to get the diaper changed. I don't like the diaper trails and i won't like it if it wears out fast or it's easier for my baby to get his diaper off once he is older. right now i have a mixture of snaps and aplix.
