And then Thirsties announced a new one size pocket diaper and I threw all my money at them. Okay, maybe not all of it. Had to save some for shoes.
The Thirsties One Size Pocket Diaper is everything I might possibly want in a diaper rolled into one neat and adorable package. Everything I loved about the sized system – double gussets, trim fit – is still present in the new design!
Thirsties has also kept a few of the fantastic features from their discontinued Duo Diaper. The sleeve style pocket allows the insert to be put in from the front or the back, which also means it agitates out in the wash. (Huge bonus for me. Removing wet and dirty inserts ranks right above going to the dentist for a filling on my list of favorite things.) The insert itself consists of two parts – a newborn microfiber insert and a full sized hemp insert. The microfiber can be used alone for newborns and small infants, or the inserts can snap together to provide extra absorbency for heavy wetters. The hemp insert can also be folded down slightly and snap to fit the pocket on the smallest rise setting! I personally like using the inserts together. Fast absorbing microfiber coupled with super absorbent hemp is my favorite combination to use in pockets. It’s great for naptime and long car rides, and really adds an extra layer of protection against those dreaded compression leaks. I love that Thirsties has included both so that I don’t have to add anything to this diaper to make it absorbent enough for my baby!
My one, small complaint about Thirsties’ foray into the world of one size diapers is the size of the pocket. It’s very, well… small. It’s narrow and can be difficult to stuff on the smallest rise. I definitely have to pre-stuff these for my husband. But if that’s the price I have to pay for a great fitting, trim, and otherwise incredible diaper, I can live with it!
While Thirsties doesn’t have the vast rainbow that other brands are known for, they have several vibrant, beautiful gender neutral colors and prints. (Charlie, who is 10 months old and 16 pounds, is sporting Aqua while we wait with increasing impatience for Spring-time weather.) I’m also a big fan of their trademark white trim. I think it gives their diapers a very clean, modern look, and makes the bright colors really pop!
The Thirsties One Size Pocket Diaper is available from Kelly’s Closet in both snaps and newly revamped hook and loop, as well as several colors to help you and your baby get over the cold weather blues!

I use these. They are my favorite daytime diaper. I agree with all the components of this analysis except I think they do have great choices in designs :).
I'm curious about how long you think it will actually fit? My boy, adorable as he is, has already outgrown my entire stash of cloth from his older sister. He is a very chunky, 16 lb 2 months old.
I wanted to love the dipe, but it always leaks for us! The hook and loop also scratches my LO's tummy ;(
